Book excerpt: Morgan Le Fay: A figure of myth; an ambiguous personification of the mysterious, powerful feminine; half-sister and adversary of King Arthur. Sandy McDougal has such a figure in his life. Is his Morgan friend or foe, ally or enemy? Does she love him, despise him, or merely tolerate him at whim? Sandy is nearing the end of his long journey, putting together the pieces of his troubled life. Haunting his dreams and his waking thoughts are memories of Morgan, sometime lover and baffling antagonist-he has always loved and desired her, sometimes feared her, never understood her-and now, as he reflects on the significant waypoints of his past, she seems to be the key to all that is, for him, unfinished, unlived, unfulfilled. Who is she? Strong, independent woman? Or seductive, deceptive sorceress? Is she real? Does Sandy only know her as a projection of his own desires and dreams? Can he handle knowing her as she is to herself? Who is he? Who is Sandy, with or without Morgan? What will he find when he sees her once again, this time ten thousand miles from home? With echoes of the Arthurian legend and a knight's quest in a strange land, the novel surprises with stunning revelations, unexpected grace, welcome healing and the spiritual insight to guide a man through the rest of his life's journey.

Book The Life of Merlin Vita Merlini

Download or read book The Life of Merlin Vita Merlini written by Geoffrey of Monmouth and published by Readaclassic.com. This book was released on 2011-02-01 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vita Merlini, or The Life of Merlin, is a work by the Norman-Welsh author Geoffrey of Monmouth, composed in Latin around AD 1150. It retells incidents from the life of the Brythonic seer Merlin, and is based on traditional material about him. Merlin is described as a prophet in the text. There are a number of episodes in which he loses his mind and lives in the wilderness like a wild animal, like Nebuchadnezzar in the Book of Daniel. It is also the first work to describe the Arthurian sorceress Morgan le Fay, as Morgen. Geoffrey had written of Merlin in his two previous works, the Prophetiae Merlini, purported to be a series of prophecies from the sage, and the Historia Regum Britanniae, which is the first work presenting a link between Merlin and King Arthur. The Vita Merlini presents an account of Merlin much more faithful to the Welsh traditions about Myrddin Wyllt, the archetype behind Geoffrey's composite figure of Merlin. Whereas the Historia had Merlin associating with Arthur, his father Uther Pendragon, and his uncle Ambrosius in the 5th century, the Vita's timeframe is during the late 6th century, and includes references to various figures from that period, including Gwenddoleu and Taliesin. Geoffrey attempts to synchronize the Vita with his earlier work by having Merlin mention he had been with Arthur long before.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am Morgan the Fay. The wicked witch, the embodiment of evil. And yet. I am the queen who takes Arthur in my arms for healing. Some editing of the story will clearly be necessary.' Morgan stands by Dozmary Pool after the Battle of Camlann, pleading with the dying Arthur to trust her. Only she can heal him. Is her price too high? As she retraces the bitterness and misunderstanding between them, she throws new light on the tales which the first four narrators have told. But that's not all. There have been countless other versions of her story, from prehistoric myths to contemporary novels. With scornful irony Morgan show us how their authors have changed her from a wise and healing ruler to a malignant sorceress and derided temptress. Can Arthur see the truth in time?

Book The Mammoth Book of King Arthur

Download or read book The Mammoth Book of King Arthur written by Mike Ashley and published by Robinson. This book was released on 2011-09-01 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most complete guide ever to the real Arthurian world and the legends that surround it He defeated the Saxons so decisively at the Battle of Badon that he held the Saxon invasion of Britain at bay for at least a generation. He has inspired more stories, books and films than any other historical or legendary figure. But who was the real King Arthur? Here is the most comprehensive guide to the real Arthurian world and the legends that surround and often obscure it. Sifting fact from fancy, Mike Ashley reveals the originals not only of King Arthur but also of Merlin. Guinevere, Lancelot and the knights of the Round Table - as well as all the major Arthurian sites. He traces each of the legends as they developed and brilliantly shows how they were later used to inspire major works of art, poetry, fiction and film. There is clear evidence that. The Arthurian legends arose from the exploits of not just one man, but at least three originating in Wales, Scotland and Brittany The true historical Arthur really existed and is distantly related to the present royal family The real Arthur and the real Merlin never knew each other The real Lancelot was not British but was closer to a sixth-century asylum-seeker The Holy Grail legend probably grew out of a cosmic catastrophe that could have destroyed most of civilization

Book The Second Coming and I a Reading for Leanne Long

Download or read book The Second Coming and I a Reading for Leanne Long written by John Kordupel and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2018-07-06 with total page 511 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How deep does the Second Creation go? The Second Coming and I:A Reading for Leanne Long seeks to answer this question. Book 1 seeks to prove reincarnation and in doing so, reveal the Second Creation. It translates alphabetical names into numerical names, permitting us to determine whether there is a nonrandom energy between different people. The greater the degree of nonrandomness, the greater the probability that one is a reincarnation of the other. It also demonstrates that our reincarnation history takes us back to the first medicine wheel, Sirius (Lemuria), home to Adam, who subsequently manifests as Jesus. Finally, author John Kordupel addresses the question of how one cures an illness that had its genesis in a previous lifetime, arising from negative energy built up over a lifetime and continuing through death. Kordupel sought out energy healer Leanne Long in an attempt to dissipate the negative energies influencing his own life, and now he shares his discoveries with the world. This study, the first volume in a series, explores a wide range of topics relating to spirituality and energies that shift among people and across lives.
