Book Moose Distribution Abundance Movements Productivity and Survival Study Plan Section 10 5 2014 2015 Study Implementation Report

Download or read book Moose Distribution Abundance Movements Productivity and Survival Study Plan Section 10 5 2014 2015 Study Implementation Report written by Alaska. Department of Fish and Game and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sufficient information on moose population and use of affected area need to be obtained in order to evaluate the potential effects of the Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project on moose. Data from radio-collared moose are being used to evaluate movements, distribution, and productivity of moose in the Project area. Composition and population estimates are obtained using the GeoSpatial Population Estimator survey. The study area includes the inundation zone, access and transmission corridors, and Project infrastructure, and essentially covers land east of the Alaska Railroad, south of Denali Highway, most land north of the northern-most bend of the Talkeetna River, and west of the Susitna River-Maclaren River confluence. However, the study in 2015 also included land along the Susitna River north of Talkeetna (for a collaring project from that point upstream to the proposed damsite). This document describes Alaska Energy Authority's efforts in implementing the study during the 2014-2015 period.

Book excerpt: In order to to evaluate the potential effects of the Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project on moose, sufficient population information and use of affected area needs to be obtained. Data from radio-collared moose bulls and cows are being used to evaluate movements, distribution, and productivity of moose in the Project area. Composition and population estimates are obtained using the GeoSpatial Population Estimator survey. The browse survey is being used to assess moose habitat in the study area. The study area includes the inundation zone, access and transmission corridors, and Project infrastructure, and essentially covers land east of the Parks Highway or east of Denali State Park, south of Denali Highway, lands north of the northern-most bend of the Talkeetna River, and west of the Susitna River-Maclaren River confluence. This draft document details Alaska Energy Authority's status in implementing the study as set forth in the FERC-approved Revised study plan and as modified by FERC's Study plan determination issued February 1, 2013.

Book Moose Management Report and Plan Game Management Unit 15

Download or read book Moose Management Report and Plan Game Management Unit 15 written by Jason K. Herreman and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 33 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This report provides a record of survey and inventory management activities for moose in Unit 15 for the 5 regulatory years 2010–2014 and plans for survey and inventory management activities for regulatory years 2015–2019. A regulatory year (RY) begins 1 July and ends 30 June (e.g., RY10 = 1 July 2010–30 June 2011). This report is produced primarily to provide agency staff with data and analysis to help guide and record its own efforts but is also provided to the public to inform it of wildlife management activities. In 2016 the Alaska Department of Fish and Game’s (ADF&G) Division of Wildlife Conservation launched this type of report to more efficiently report on trends and describe potential changes in data collection activities. It replaces the moose management report of survey and inventory activities that was previously produced every 2 years."--Page 1

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This best-selling majors ecology book continues to present ecology as a series of problems for readers to critically analyze. No other text presents analytical, quantitative, and statistical ecological information in an equally accessible style. Reflecting the way ecologists actually practice, the book emphasizes the role of experiments in testing ecological ideas and discusses many contemporary and controversial problems related to distribution and abundance. Throughout the book, Krebs thoroughly explains the application of mathematical concepts in ecology while reinforcing these concepts with research references, examples, and interesting end-of-chapter review questions. Thoroughly updated with new examples and references, the book now features a new full-color design and is accompanied by an art CD-ROM for instructors. The field package also includes The Ecology Action Guide, a guide that encourages readers to be environmentally responsible citizens, and a subscription to The Ecology Place (www.ecologyplace.com), a web site and CD-ROM that enables users to become virtual field ecologists by performing experiments such as estimating the number of mice on an imaginary island or restoring prairie land in Iowa.
