Book Moonlight Metamorphosis Curse of the Lycan

Download or read book Moonlight Metamorphosis Curse of the Lycan written by Drac Von Stoller and published by Drac Von Stoller. This book was released on 2023-12-27 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Once upon a time in a small, secluded village nestled deep within the dense forests, there existed a legend that had been whispered through generations. It was the tale of the Moonlight Metamorphosis: Curse of the Lycan. According to the folklore, a powerful and malevolent curse had been placed upon the village centuries ago, condemning its inhabitants to transform into savage werewolves under the light of the full moon. The villagers lived in perpetual fear, constantly vigilant and wary of the looming threat of the cursed transformation. Children were warned to stay indoors after nightfall, and all doors and windows were tightly barred to keep the lycanthropic terror at bay. However, the eerie howls that echoed through the night were a cruel reminder that the curse was very much alive. Among the villagers, there was a young woman named Eliza, who had always been drawn to the mysterious allure of the moonlit nights. She had long been fascinated by the forbidden tales of the lycanthropes and secretly harbored the desire to uncover the truth behind the ancient curse. However, her curiosity often led her to be warned and chastised by the elders of the village, who insisted that some secrets were best left undisturbed. One fateful evening, as the full moon rose, casting an otherworldly glow over the village, Eliza found herself unable to resist the alluring pull of the night

Book Tales of Moonlight and Rain

Download or read book Tales of Moonlight and Rain written by Akinari Ueda and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2008-12-24 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1776, the nine gothic tales in this collection are Japan's finest and most celebrated examples of the literature of the occult. They subtly merge the world of reason with the realm of the uncanny and exemplify the period's fascination with the strange and the grotesque. They were also the inspiration for Mizoguchi Kenji's brilliant 1953 film Ugetsu. The title Ugetsu monogatari (literally "rain-moon tales") alludes to the belief that mysterious beings appear on cloudy, rainy nights and in mornings with a lingering moon. In "Shiramine," the vengeful ghost of the former emperor Sutoku reassumes the role of king; in "The Chrysanthemum Vow," a faithful revenant fulfills a promise; "The Kibitsu Cauldron" tells a tale of spirit possession; and in "The Carp of My Dreams," a man straddles the boundaries between human and animal and between the waking world and the world of dreams. The remaining stories feature demons, fiends, goblins, strange dreams, and other manifestations beyond all logic and common sense. The eerie beauty of this masterpiece owes to Akinari's masterful combination of words and phrases from Japanese classics with creatures from Chinese and Japanese fiction and lore. Along with The Tale of Genji and The Tales of the Heike, Tales of Moonlight and Rain has become a timeless work of great significance. This new translation, by a noted translator and scholar, skillfully maintains the allure and complexity of Akinari's original prose.

Book THE HONORABLE MISS MOONLIGHT a Saga of the House of Saito

Download or read book THE HONORABLE MISS MOONLIGHT a Saga of the House of Saito written by ONOTO WATANNA and published by Abela Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2020-05-26 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE day had been long and sultry. It was the season of little heat, when an all-encompassing humidity seemed suspended over the land. Sky and earth were one a dim blue, which faded to shadowy grayness. With the approach of evening, a soothing breeze crept up from the river. Its faint movement brought a measure of relief, and nature took on a more animated aspect. Up through the narrow, twisting roads, in and out of the never-ending paths, the lights of countless jinrikishas twinkled, bound for the Houses of Pleasure. Revelers called to each other out of the balmy darkness. Under the quivering light of a lifted lantern, suspended for an instant, faces gleamed out, then disappeared back into the darkness. To the young Lord Saito Gonji the night seemed to speak with myriad tongues. Like some finely tuned instrument whose slenderest string must vibrate if touched by a breath, so the heart of the youth was stirred by every appeal of the night. He heard nothing of the chatter and laughter of those about him. For the time at least, he had put behind him that sickening, deadening thought that had borne him company now for so long. He was giving himself up entirely to the brief hour of joy, which had been agreeably extended to him in extenuation of the long life of thralldom yet to come. It was in his sole honor that the many relatives and connections of his family had assembled, joyously to celebrate the fleeting hours of youth. For within a week the Lord Saito Gonji was to marry. Upon this pale and dreamy youth the hopes of the illustrious house of Saito depended…… 10% of the profit from the sale of this book will be donated to charities. ================ KEYWORDS/TAGS: Honorable miss moonlight, ancestors, beautiful, body, child, city, draw, drew, eyes, family, geisha, geisha-house, girl, Gonji, honorable, House of Pleasure, house, husband, Ichigo, Japan, jinrikishasLady, last, Lord, love, lust, master, Matsuda, mistress, Moonlight, Ohano, Okusama, Omi, Pines, possible, pray, relatives, Reveler, rikshaw, Lord Saito, samurai, service, silence, Slender, Spider, sword, voice, wife, women, words, young, Onoto Watanna, Winifred Eaton, discipline,

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Newly married, writer Jan Baumgartner and her husband, John, pack up their home and busy lives in San Francisco trading the city verve for a quieter one along the rural coast of Maine. Looking forward to a slower pace, a life intertwined with nature, and greater opportunities to satiate their wanderlust for world travel, the couple buys a rambling Victorian house on the shores of Eggemoggin Reach, excited to begin this new chapter of their lives. But just a few years later, they receive the unexpected and devastating news that her husband is terminally ill with ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig's disease. In their 30s and 40s, in a place not quite yet home, without family or closest friends nearby, and facing a crippling disease that will leave him paralyzed from the neck down, the author chronicles the heartbreak and depth of their love as she struggles with the emotional and physical challenges as a full-time caregiver for her dying husband. Throughout the journey, she finds an unexpected source of inspiration in her travels to Africa, with and without John, a healing connection with the bounty of nature surrounding their coastal home, and her determination to one day return to her beloved Africa. From the rugged isolation of the Maine coast to the wilds of the African bush, Moonlight in the Desert of Left Behind is a poignant and often heartrendingly candid story of devotion, courage, and ultimately, hope.

Book Tracking the Weretiger

Download or read book Tracking the Weretiger written by Patrick Newman and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2012-10-03 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on dramatic accounts by European colonials, and on detailed studies by folklorists and anthropologists, this work explores intriguing age-old Asian beliefs and claims that man-eating tigers and "little tigers," or leopards alike, were in various ways supernatural. It is a serious work based on extensive research, written in a lively style. Fundamental to the book is the evocation of a long-vanished world. When a man-eater struck in colonial times, people typically said it was a demon sent by a deity, or even the deity itself in animal form, punishing transgressors and being guided by its victims' angry spirits. Colonials typically dismissed this as superstitious nonsense but given traditional ideas about the close links between people, tigers and the spirit world, it is quite understandable. Other man-eaters were said to be shapeshifting black magicians. The result is a rich fund of tales from India and the Malay world in particular, and while some people undoubtedly believed them, others took advantage of man-eaters to persecute minorities as the supposed true culprits. The book explores the prejudices behind these witch-hunts, and also considers Asian weretiger and wereleopard lore in a wider context, finding common features with the more familiar werewolves of medieval Europe in particular.

Quentin Blake, the so-called Godfather of Illustration, combines his talents with novelist Will Self, “one of the most manically imaginative writers at work today” (Financial Times). The result is a book of irresistible appeal to literature and art lovers alike. Blake’s watercolors relate, with dark, fantastical humor, the experience of journeying across unknown landscapes in the dead of night. Accompanying this artistic narrative is an equally evocative text from the ever-brilliant mind of Will Self. With characteristic sharpness and wit, Self melds fact, fiction, and memory to transport the reader in the most radical way, departing on unexpected trajectories in response to Blake’s visual romp through time and space. Together, word and image connect with our deepest sensibilities in Moonlight Travellers as we journey through the landscapes and dreamscapes of night.
