Book Moonchild and the Hymn to Pan Jabberwoke Pocket Occult

Download or read book Moonchild and the Hymn to Pan Jabberwoke Pocket Occult written by Aleister Crowley and published by . This book was released on 2021-09 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This book was written in 1917, during such leisure as my efforts to bring America into the War on our side allowed me. Hence my illusions on the subject, and the sad showing of Simon Iff at the end. Need I add that, as the book itself demonstrates beyond all doubt, all persons and incidents are purely the figment of a disordered imagination?" So begins the cattiest, messiest novel from infamous transcriber of the Book of Lies, the Beast Himself, Aleister Crowley(1875-1947). Hiding behind the guise of fiction, Moonchild is Crowley's platform to throw shade at his nemeses in England's spiritualist circles: the Theosophists, Christian Scientists, The Society for the Psychical Research--none are spared Crowley's sardonic quips. He trashes Madame Blavatsky as a fraud and darkly hints that Anne Besant--like himself--may have had hidden connections to the shadowy underbelly of metaphysical military intelligences.Crowley's main ire is reserved for "black magicians" such as Arthur Edward Waite and MacGregor Mathers, whose thinly-veiled fictionalized selves haunt Moonchild as its primary antagonists, captives of the evil forms of magick they have chained themselves to. The narrative follows the initiation of "Lisa la Giuffria" (a representation of Crowley-muse Mary D'Este) into the White Lodge, recruited to fill the role of the Goddess Artemis in a secret Experiment that could re-order the future of all humankind. It is in these passages that Crowley reveals some of the technical mechanisms of his Order's particular magickal system--as the heretical blood magick practiced by the truly wicked and the fallen. The Jabberwoke pocket edition births this text into a new century, so that its surreal message of the dangers of surrendering to the dark and straying from the path of the Tao can enlighten the children of the age of Aquarius, and all the Moonchildern to come.

Book The Great God Pan and the Inmost Light Jabberwoke Pocket Occult

Download or read book The Great God Pan and the Inmost Light Jabberwoke Pocket Occult written by Arthur Machen and published by . This book was released on 2021-09 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulu, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein--All of these towering archetypal terrors trace their lineage to the lurking Dionysian shadow that haunts Arthur Machen's 1898 classic fable of pagan horror. The narrative follows a series of clueless Londoners as they struggle to understand the occult destruction that clings to the wake of the mysterious socialite Helen Vaughn. Rumors of dark rituals and a lifelong association with the Horned God of the forest take on a pressing urgency as the well-to-do men of town who are drawn to her begin sacrificing themselves to the strange force that is her true soul's companion. Machen's fascination with hermeticism and Qabalah informs this singular novel which-along with its unsettling overtones of dread-is also a deeply funny and rewarding satire of the posh upper-class who took up occultism as a fad, only to be consumed by ancient powers they neither respected nor understood. The Great God Pan serves as both a warning against casual witchery, and, for the truly courageous, a gateway into the cavernous halls of Dionysus, and the costly treasures that dwell within.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The influential occultist distills the sixteenth-century writings of Elizabethan Magi John Dee and Edward Kelly in this authoritative and accessible volume. Enochian magick is a powerful system of ceremonial magic based on the writings of John Dee and Edward Kelly, who claimed that their information was presented to them directly from angels. It is named after the biblical prophet Enoch and is perhaps the most powerful and elegant of all magical systems. Dee and Kelley’s work has formed the basis for countless magical systems, such as the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and has inspired magicians from all the generations that followed, including Crowley himself. This book presents readers with the Enochian selections from Crowley’s semiannual magical journal The Equinox. It features Crowley’s distillation of the work of Dee and Kelley along with an introduction by Lon Milo DuQuette, master occultist.

Book The Three Magical Books of Solomon

Download or read book The Three Magical Books of Solomon written by Aleister Crowley and published by . This book was released on 2024-03-20 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2024 Hardcover Reprint of the three Grimoires bound into one volume. This omnibus edition reprints the three great magical works of King Solomon in one volume. The Key of Solomon the King was originally researched and translated by S.L. MacGregor Mathers from ancient manuscripts in the British museums. The work is traditionally divided into two books detailing the Key of King Solomon. The Lesser Key of Solomon [1904], or the Clavicula Salomonis Regis, or Lemegeton, is a compilation of materials and writings from ancient sources making up a text book of magic or "grimoire." Portions of this book can be traced back to the mid-16th to 17th centuries, when occult researchers such as Cornelius Agrippa and Johannes Trithemisus assembled what they discovered during their investigations into ancient texts. The Greater Key [1914] lists and describes a variety of purifications an exorcist should undergo. Instructions are given on clothing, magical devices, and even animal sacrifices. The Testament of Solomon [1898] is attributed to King Solomon of the Old Testament. Written in the first-person narrative, the book tells the story of the creation of the magical ring of King Solomon and how Solomon's ring was used to bind and control demons, including Beelzebub. The manuscripts from which this work was discovered date from the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries. All were written in Greek. This dating makes most experts believe that the work is medieval. But some scholars argue that it is likely that the work comes from the 5th or 6th centuries. Regardless of the dates, these texts provide an immensely interesting description of how King Solomon tamed various demons to build his temple. The text includes predictions of the coming of Christ, as one demon explains to Solomon that while he may be bound, the only thing that can truly take his power away is the man born from a virgin who will be crucified by the Jews.

Book The Two Novels of Aleister Crowley

Download or read book The Two Novels of Aleister Crowley written by Aleister Crowley and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 498 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aleister Crowley is best known for his work in the occult, his writings on Magick, and creating the religion of Thelema. He was a giant of his time with many talents and, some argue, many flaws as well. Of all his gifts, his writing was the vehicle that drove his genius. His Book of the Law and other mystical works are widely read by students of occult philosophy. Few, however, are familiar with his more artistic endeavors, including his two literary novels: Diary of a Drug Fiend & Moonchild. For whatever reason, stories help readers integrate and understand larger themes and ideas present in the narrative. Perhaps that is why people look to allegories like Cain and Abel when trying to understand the nature of murder, or recite The Boy Who Cried Wolf when teaching their children not to lie. The truths appearing in fiction take no intellectual effort to grasp; they work subtly on the reader's mind in a way that is easier to digest than the cold, hard philosopher's stone. The great religions of the world understand this. Crowley took note as well. His two novels carry the message of Thelema. The characters and themes in the books were imagined and created to dramatize and illustrate its practice. The reader sees Thelema in action and learns of Crowley's broader beliefs and philosophy as the drama unfolds. "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law; Love is the law, love under will." A short phrase with monumental import. In Diary of a Drug Fiend, Crowley shows its power to bring two hopeless addicts out of a pit of hell. In Moonchild, he demonstrates the fate of those who would misinterpret its meaning and be seduced by the temptations of Black Magick. Whether intended or not, The Two Novels of Aleister Crowley provide a more compelling case for his beliefs than his other works ever could.
