Book Believe It Or Else

Download or read book Believe It Or Else written by Leroy Lightning and published by Publishamerica Incorporated. This book was released on 2009-11 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hi, IA¢a¬a¢m Leroy Lightning, but IA¢a¬a¢m known to most as Murph! IA¢a¬a¢ve been told by many I should put my life outdoors experiences and memories in writing. A writer IA¢a¬a¢m not, a storyteller I am. IA¢a¬a¢ve told people about something I did in the past and they said A¢a¬Awow, that brings back good memories. We used to do that all the time and IA¢a¬a¢ve almost forgot about it until you brought it up.A¢a¬A Not me, IA¢a¬a¢m still doing it! I have a lot of pictures, but they really donA¢a¬a¢t tell the real story, they just make good points, or proof if you will, because A¢a¬Abelieve it or else,A¢a¬A I have witnesses. It didnA¢a¬a¢t take me long in my outdoor life to learn it wasnA¢a¬a¢t just the kill, the trophies, the big fish, or the trip if you didnA¢a¬a¢t have a long-lasting memory with a really good story to go with it. Please keep in mind I can spend day after days in the hills without hunting or fishing and enjoy every minute, every beauty, the trees, and the birds. ThereA¢a¬a¢s no end to it, you just need to go see for yourself. What you read from here forward, the names have been limited to first name only to protect the guilty, not for reason to hide, but more for privacy. If I can inspire a young person or family to enjoy what so many of us living in the land of opportunities have, IA¢a¬a¢d be a happy person. Even more so, to get some attention to preserve what Montana has to offer. What IA¢a¬a¢m saying is, I havenA¢a¬a¢t done what many others havenA¢a¬a¢t, IA¢a¬a¢m just not sure they enjoyed it as much as I have. ItA¢a¬a¢s been pretty much my life with real meaning, and IA¢a¬a¢m sure my children will pass it on to their children, and thatA¢a¬a¢s already started. IA¢a¬a¢ve been known to make up words, in fact IA¢a¬a¢m really good at it. So, if you can get past the bad grammar and my dry sense of humor, I hope you will enjoy this as much as I enjoyed doing it. I canA¢a¬a¢t write or tell about all of my outings, so IA¢a¬a¢m just going to touch on the stories with a lot meaning to me! I hope you will find them interesting. Just one more thingA¢a¬amy real education is life- long experience, and I have a masterA¢a¬a¢s degree from the School of Hard Knocks.

Book Chasing Montana

Download or read book Chasing Montana written by Lori Soderlind and published by Terrace Books. This book was released on 2006-04-20 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lori, the heroine of this rousing narrative, is attempting to flee the hectic East Coast for a better life in the West. She is a child of the Seventies who feels misled by the rebellious "boomer" generation and disappointed with life in 1980s New Jersey. Spurred by the tale of her pioneering grandparents, who immigrated to Montana, and following her friend Madeleine, who has all the answers, Lori quits her job, loosens her ties, and sets off into a wild frontier. Lori's story is one of love for people and for places that are more mythic than real. Her pursuit is as painfully familiar as it is impossible: she seeks meaning in life while working dead-end jobs, falls in love with uninterested partners, and plans a future that seems doomed from the start. Somehow, though, she persists and ultimately finds her place as a twenty-first-century pioneer.

Book Where the Deer and the Antelope Play

Download or read book Where the Deer and the Antelope Play written by Nick Offerman and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2023-10-03 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A humorous and rousing set of literal and figurative sojourns as well as a mission statement about comprehending, protecting, and truly experiencing the outdoors, fueled by three journeys undertaken by actor, humorist, and New York Times bestselling author Nick Offerman Nick Offerman has always felt a particular affection for the Land of the Free—not just for the people and their purported ideals but to the actual land itself: the bedrock, the topsoil, and everything in between that generates the health of your local watershed. In his new book, Nick takes a humorous, inspiring, and elucidating trip to America's trails, farms, and frontier to examine the people who inhabit the land, what that has meant to them and us, and to the land itself, both historically and currently. In 2018, Wendell Berry posed a question to Nick, a query that planted the seed of this book, sending Nick on two memorable journeys with pals—a hiking trip to Glacier National Park with his friends Jeff Tweedy and George Saunders, as well as an extended visit to his friend James Rebanks, the author of The Shepherd's Life and English Pastoral. He followed that up with an excursion that could only have come about in 2020—Nick and his wife, Megan Mullally, bought an Airstream trailer to drive across (several of) the United States. These three quests inspired some “deep-ish" thinking from Nick, about the history and philosophy of our relationship with nature in our national parks, in our farming, and in our backyards; what we mean when we talk about conservation; and the importance of outdoor recreation, all subjects very close to Nick's heart. With witty, heartwarming stories and a keen insight into the human problems we all confront, this is both a ramble through and celebration of the land we all love.

Book My Wilderness Life One Man s Search for Meaning in Montana s Wilderness

Download or read book My Wilderness Life One Man s Search for Meaning in Montana s Wilderness written by John Fraley and published by Farcountry Press. This book was released on with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A wildlife biologist's journey of discovery through Montana's wilderness As young men, John Fraley and Terry McCoy were kindred spirits, drawn to Montana’s most remote, rugged, wild places. Tragically, one of them died young, his wilderness dreams cut short. The other went on to a forty-year career studying fish and furbearers in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. My Wilderness Life chronicles John Fraley’s lifelong love of all places wild and his obsession with uncovering what happened on the August 1974 morning when Terry McCoy’s airplane crashed in what would become the Welcome Creek Wilderness. Join Fraley on a frantic search to find his friend, and also on epic treks to traverse an impassable river canyon, snorkel with pure westslope cutthroat trout, retrace the footsteps of conservation icon Bud Moore, track lynx and mountain lions across the Great Bear Wilderness in winter, hike 42 miles through the Bob in a single day, and much more. At turns hilarious and heartbreaking, My Wilderness Life reveals how one man’s unfulfilled dreams can inspire another’s adventures. Wilderness risks and rewards come alive in first-hand accounts of daring escapades, solo treks, and a few foolhardy misadventures. An inside glimpse of the life of a fisheries biologist in the backcountry. Amply illustrated with 100 black-and-white photographs.
