Die Rationalisierungsschube der vergangenen Jahrzehnte brachten zwar in Teil bereichen der Fertigung hochautomatische Fertigungseinrichtungen, doch nur in wenigen Fallen lassen sich diese Anlagen ohne groBen Umrustaufwand an sich rasch andernde Marktanforderungen anpassen. Eine Produktivitatssteigerung bei gleichzeitiger h6herer Flexibilitat ist jedoch nur durch eine Integration der einzelnen Funktionsbereiche in die Ge samtstruktur eines Produktionsbetriebes zu erzielen. Die verbindenden Faktoren sind ein straff organisierter MaterialfluB und ein durchgehender, transparenter InformationsfluB. So werden zukunftig die Schnittstellen der Montage- und Handhabungstechnik im Hin blick auf den MaterialfluB und die Integration in ubergeordnete Systeme eine bedeutende Rolle auf dem Weg zur flexibel automatisierten Fabrik einnehmen. Der internationale KongreB Montage - Handhabung - Industrieroboter vom 18. bis 20. April 1985 im Rahmen der Hannover Messe bietet die M6glichkeit zum Erfahrungsaustausch und zur Diskussion. An drei Halbtagen tragen neben Entwicklern und Herstellern sowie Planern und Anwendern auch Wissenschaftler aus Forschungsinstituten zur Klarung von Fragestellungen bei. Der erste Halbtag zeigt M6glichkeiten der Montagetechnik und deren zukunftige Entwicklung auf. Fragen der Handhabung beherrschen den zweiten Halbtag, wobei dem MaterialfluB das besondere Augenmerk gilt. Der dritte Halbtag stellt neuartige Anwendungen von Industrierobotern vor. Daruber hinaus steht vor allem die Integration von Teilsystemen zu einem flexiblen hochautomatisierten Gesamtsystem zur Diskussion.
