Book Langmuir Blodgett Films 1982

Download or read book Langmuir Blodgett Films 1982 written by G.G. Roberts and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-10-26 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thin Films Science and Technology, Volume 3: Langmuir–Blodgett Films, 1982 presents the developments and complementary methods for the production of ultrathin films. This book evaluates the process technology and potential of the films. Organized into two parts encompassing 48 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the idea that the Langmuir–Blodgett method of superimposing fatty acid monolayers might be suitably modified. This text then examines the behavior of anisotropic photoconductivities in Langmuir films of rhodanine containing merocyanines with three donor nuclei diluted with arachidic acid. Other chapters describe the characteristic of pure Langmuir–Blodgett films of porphyrins. This book discusses as well the preliminary resonance Raman spectroscopy experiments on Langmuir–Blodgett films made of a small number of porphyrin layers. The final chapter deals with the need to fabricate small structures in electronic devices because of the advantages of cost and speed. This book is a valuable resource for scientists and engineers.

Book An Introduction to Ultrathin Organic Films

Download or read book An Introduction to Ultrathin Organic Films written by Abraham Ulman and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of oriented organic monomolecular layers by the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) and self-assembly (SA) techniques has led researchers toward their goal of assembling individual molecules into highly ordered architectures. Thus the continually growing contribution of LB and SA systems to the chemistry and physics of thin organic films is widely recognized. Equally well-known is the difficulty in keeping up to date with the burgeoning multidisciplinary research in this area. Dr. Ulman provides a massive survey of the available literature. The book begins with a section on analytical tools to broaden the understanding of the structure and properties of monolayers and films. Following sections discuss LB films, the preparation and properties of SA monolayers and films, the modeling of LB and SA monolayers, and the application of LB and SA films.

Book Encyclopedia of Chemical Physics and Physical Chemistry

Download or read book Encyclopedia of Chemical Physics and Physical Chemistry written by John H. Moore and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-07-03 with total page 715 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Encyclopedia of Physical Chemistry and Chemical Physics introduces possibly unfamiliar areas, explains important experimental and computational techniques, and describes modern endeavors. The encyclopedia quickly provides the basics, defines the scope of each subdiscipline, and indicates where to go for a more complete and detailed explanation. Particular attention has been paid to symbols and abbreviations to make this a user-friendly encyclopedia. Care has been taken to ensure that the reading level is suitable for the trained chemist or physicist. The encyclopedia is divided in three major sections: FUNDAMENTALS: the mechanics of atoms and molecules and their interactions, the macroscopic and statistical description of systems at equilibrium, and the basic ways of treating reacting systems. The contributions in this section assume a somewhat less sophisticated audience than the two subsequent sections. At least a portion of each article inevitably covers material that might also be found in a modern, undergraduate physical chemistry text. METHODS: the instrumentation and fundamental theory employed in the major spectroscopic techniques, the experimental means for characterizing materials, the instrumentation and basic theory employed in the study of chemical kinetics, and the computational techniques used to predict the static and dynamic properties of materials. APPLICATIONS: specific topics of current interest and intensive research. For the practicing physicist or chemist, this encyclopedia is the place to start when confronted with a new problem or when the techniques of an unfamiliar area might be exploited. For a graduate student in chemistry or physics, the encyclopedia gives a synopsis of the basics and an overview of the range of activities in which physical principles are applied to chemical problems. It will lead any of these groups to the salient points of a new field as rapidly as possible and gives pointers as to where to read about the topic in more detail.

Download or read book Bioelectrochemistry II written by G. Milazzo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-07 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the lectures of the second course devoted to bioelectro chemistry, held within the framework of the International School of Biophysics. In this course another very large field of bioelectrochemistry, i. e. the field of Membrane Phenomena, was considered, which itself consists of several different, but yet related subfields. Here again, it can be easily stated that it is impossible to give a complete and detailed picture of all membrane phenomena of biological interest in a short course of about one and half week. Therefore the same philosophy, as the one of the first course, was followed, to select a series of lectures at postgraduate level, giving a synthesis of several membrane phenomena chosen among the most'important ones. These lectures should show the large variety of membrane-regulated events occurring in living bodies, and serve as sound interdisciplinary basis to start a special ized study of biological phenomena, for which the investigation using the dual approach, physico-chemical and biological, is unavoidable. Since, as already mentioned, it was impossible to exhaust, even roughly, is a short course like this, the presentation and introductory treatment of the extremely large variety of membrane phenomena, it can be expected that the third course will continue the subject of membrane phenomena deepening some ones presented in this course and introducing some new ones. vii CONTENTS Symbols and acronyms IX Opening address G. Book Molecular Electronics

    Book Details:
  • Author : F.T. Hong
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 146157482X
  • Pages : 441 pages

Download or read book Molecular Electronics written by F.T. Hong and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The dream of developing a biocomputer should not be dismissed as a sheer fantasy. Although there is naturally some doubt as to whether it is possible to design a computer using carbon-based components as in living organisms, instead of silicon-based components as in existing computers, the fact that an average brain often outperforms the most sophisticated computer in terms of the complexity of tasks, if not in terms of speed, is a living testimony to this possibility. The remaining question is to what extent a biocomputer can mimic a living organism and whether it is possible to design and fabri cate such a biocomputer within the foreseeable future. This volume does not attempt to provide immediate and exact answers to these questions but instead attempts to provide a vision and a progress report of the initial efforts. This volume is mainly a collection of papers presented at the Symposium on Molecular Electronics - Biosensors and Biocomputers, sponsored by the Divi sion of Biotechnology, Health and Environment of the Fine Particle Society, held from July 19-22, 1989 at the Society's 19th Annual Meeting in Santa Clara, California. Also included are articles contributed by those who planned to attend the conference but were unable to do so. The emergence of the field of molecular electronics is largely the consequence of one person's crusade, that of Forrest L. Carter.
