Book excerpt: Reading Ericka's Story was one of the hardest things I have ever done. There were times when I had to stop reading, because I could not stop crying. I don't know if it was my own pain or the pain I felt for you, Dominic and Racquel. Reading the book helped me understand why it was so difficult for you to write. The purpose of the book is compelling. In my view, it admonishes parents who have children with life threatening diseases to bond with family and others in their social networks and especially God to help them through all of the uncertainty and pain that they will experience. The book does a wonderful job of capturing the feelings of all of the people in your lives and the roles they played in this drama. It is a premier for all parents with children diagnosed with terminal diseases. Frank Lomax III Ericka's Grandpa Minister Kelley Denise Gulley, MBA is a member of World Conquerors Church in Oakland, California, where she leads the Prayer Warriors Ministry and serves on the Vision in Action Team which works to implement Pastoral initiatives. She is a dynamic facilitator, speaker and teacher who counts it a privilege to have worked in and ministered to people living in low income communities of color across the country and in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Kelley's purpose in life is to bless others. She believes that she has been given gifts, abilities and experiences so that she can be used by God as a transfer point for these gifts to be deposited in the people who cross her path. Kelley is married to her high school sweetheart, Dominic. They have two children Racquel and Dominic, Jr. who you will learn more about in Ericka's Story.

But now, instead of chasing bad guys through perilous jungles, she builds giant Lego towers, reads Green Eggs and Ham, and crafts exceptional forts from couch cushions and blankets. Just when she's starting to settle into retirement, Sally's old Agency boss, Simon Still, shows up to recruit her for one more job, involving the illegal arms dealer, Blackford, who is on the move again. Original Sin features Sally's great chase to thwart Blackford, who, conveniently, no one besides her seems to be able to stop. But can she make it to preschool pickup, get dinner on the table, and foil Blackford's nefarious plot? And just when you think the thrills are over, you'll be ready To Sin Again. When the Agency Director is taken hostage, Sally is once again called into action. A rescue operation? Easy. That is, until Sally learns of a connection between the kidnapping and her own mysterious childhood, which complicates everything, even Theo's kindergarten applications. Book Are We Divorced Too Daddy

Download or read book Are We Divorced Too Daddy written by Vickie Gunnells-Hodge and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2000-12 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is hopefully the voice for every child who experiences any of the downs of divorce, simply because one parent chooses to do his own thing for “Just Right Now.” Divorce is hard enough for the child in and of itself without their having to deal with the fact that that loving missing parent believes his needs are more important than his child’s. This is where I believe a real difference exist in Americans and Jamaicans. Jamaicans seem to have a stronger feel for Family, Elders and loyalty. Fatherhood is not a temporary position! Most men here are more than enthused when it comes to promoting themselves for the sake of their business; it makes you wonder how does their enthusiasm diminish when it comes to involvement with their own flesh and blood! If they would just try giving themselves completely for a little while to that child they would surely see that their children’s love would fill the void they’re denying, and the love given and received from them will last longer, and weigh greater than anything else, forever.

Book When the Doctor is Bad He is Very Very Bad

Download or read book When the Doctor is Bad He is Very Very Bad written by IRENE KATHRYN HAYNES and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2019-10-23 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This compelling narrative is based on a true story. It is about a romance and betrayal at a time in history when changes in the California divorce laws in the early 1970s made no provisions to help women cope with the new laws. There were nightmare stories circulated of women evicted from their homes and told to go to work, while husbands were left in the home with the children, and there were numerous stories of men seeking child support and alimony. It was obvious at that time that some people were not aware of the purposes of the change in the law, which were intended to make the process fair to everyone involved. It was a misunderstanding of the intent of the change, which led to the circumstances that were devised to deliberately punish women for the women's lib movement, and also for having the tenacity to get out of abusive relationships. The most horrific stories of punishment were to women who are mothers. The welfare of mothers and their children were narratives of ex-husbands taking the children and running out of state or going after the women for custody of their children. As stated previously, the laws in California pertaining to divorce were intended to bring fairness and equality to both individuals in the divorce, but it brought only punishment and suffering to mothers and children. And it was the children who would suffer the most because they need their mothers in order to develop affectively. Many women at this time had not been brought up to be assertive, and some had never been to an attorney. The damage to these women could have been mitigated had they been provided advocates in the courts in order to prevent unscrupulous attorneys and ex-husbands from taking advantage of them. No one should ever be in a position where they are intimidated into signing papers that are not in their best interest as mothers. Though time has passed, there are still individuals who are "disadvantaged" or "disabled," and they should be provided full access to the courts through advocates. This is a must read for professionals in the field of psychology, psychiatry, law, and education. It is highly recommended for women in general, educated or not, and for women who just want to protect their rights as well as those of their family. Most importantly, it is a vibrant voice for the have-nots who just want to survive in a progressively intimidating world.
