Book Mobility Management in Urban Areas

Download or read book Mobility Management in Urban Areas written by Anjali Awasthi and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Smart cities rely on information and communication technologies to enhance the quality of life of their citizens. This includes better use of transportation infrastructure, use of public transport, clean fuels, efficient utilization of parking spaces, and carsharing through the use of technologies such as internet of things, cloud computing, and blockchain while keeping in account environmental goals. Mobility management in urban areas is challenging yet critical. For the smooth transportation of goods and people, a detailed study of the city system elements from multiple perspectives is required. In this book, theoretical models, literature reviews and case studies to improve mobility in smart cities are provided. The key problems addressed are the allocation of pay and display parking machines, electric vehicle charging station location optimization, facility location planning under stochastic disruption, pedestrian safety planning using internet of things, assessing the environmental effect of airports on cities and populations, antecedents and outcomes of reverse supply chain and social sustainability practices, discrete event simulation for carsharing fleet management strategies, data mining models for road transport GHG emissions prediction, bibliometric analysis on smart city mobility, and blockchain for supply chain traceability application. Simulation, optimization, machine learning and qualitative methodologies are used. The book will serve as a very useful resource to academicians and practitioners working in the field"--

Book Sustainable Urban Logistics

Download or read book Sustainable Urban Logistics written by Jesus Gonzalez-Feliu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-02-14 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Urban logistics has been a subject of interest to researchers and practitioners for more than 20 years in France and Europe, and more than 40 in the United States. Nevertheless, the subject remains difficult to address by a lack of unification in the definitions and proposed methods but also by what makes its great richness: the diversity of actors and the pluridisciplinarity of the methods and techniques available. This book, which synthesizes more than 10 years of personal research on the subject, but also experience within different teams and projects, intends to bring a unified vision (and more and more followed at the international level) on logistics planning Urban development. It begins with an overview of research in urban logistics and then describes and defines the main components: flows, actors, infrastructures, management components, technologies, regulations and financing actions. A unified vision of these elements as well as the definition of sustainable urban logistics is proposed. Then, the book presents the basics of planning and managing sustainable urban logistics. First, the basics of the before-after analysis are introduced, not only for the experiments but also for the simulation of scenarios. To carry out this type of analysis, two main groups of methods are needed: methods for estimating flows and methods for calculating evaluation indicators. The book presents the main global standards and dominant models for the estimation of the urban freight transport demand, i.e. of freight transport needs in urban areas. Then it presents the methods for estimating and simulating transport and distribution schemes (i.e. transport supply) as well as a proposal for integrated supply-demand modeling. All these methods are presented for immediate application to practitioners, accompanied by summary tables and parameters necessary for their implementation. As far as evaluation is concerned, the book presents a framework for the choice of sustainable indicators and scorecards. Second, the main methods for economic, environmental, social and accessibility assessment are presented. They are accompanied by tables and figures necessary for their implementation. Finally, the main applications of the proposed methods are introduced. The book is meant to be a practical guide to applying the main methods from scientific research to a practical context, and presents examples of quantified and explained application. It is thus the first book that summarizes and presents the main unified methods to help the different decision-makers to implement them in their actions of planning and management of the urban logistics and the transport of goods in town.

Book Complex Systems Smart Territories and Mobility

Download or read book Complex Systems Smart Territories and Mobility written by Patricia Sajous and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-01-27 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reflects the outcome of contribution by the plural community and of the interactions between disciplines. With the mass of data available through Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in an unprecedented quantity since the Human History, it is now possible to access dimensions of knowledge that, though not hidden, could not be grasped in the same way in the past. The question of how this information can be used for the benefit of institutional and economic actors to foster the development of a territory. Tackling the issue from a resolutely interdisciplinary perspective, the authors explore the theories and methods of complex systems in order to discuss how they can contribute in these new circumstances to territorial intelligence and to the development practices in which it is embodied. This book illustrates how today’s research explores the multiple facets of territorial systems in order to reproduce their richness. It invites readers to learn about the challenges, ideas, results and advances present in this domain.
