A life where we see all that is sacred. It seems the more we pack into our lives, the less we experience of our lives. We've become modern-day Marthas, busy, distracted, and empty, instead of like her sister Mary, calm, focused, and fulfilled. How do we, like Mary, create "pauses" in our days and weeks to hear what the Savior has to say to us? How do we make time for the things that ultimately matter? How can we become more spiritually sensitive to the everyday moments of life? In Seeing What Is Sacred (formerly titled The Reflective Life), acclaimed writer Ken Gire unlocks the door to change by introducing us not to a trendy new method, but to a centuries-old tradition of seeing the sacred in the everyday through reflective living. In this momentous work, readers will: Discover this rich heritage that stretches from David, Solomon, and Jesus himself to Augustine, Brother Lawrence and Mother Teresa. Learn "habits of the heart" that deepen their intimacy with Christ through Scripture, meditation, and prayer Cultivate a spiritual sensitivity that allows them to see God at work in all of life's moments

Download or read book Savior written by Jennifer I Saviano and published by . This book was released on 2021-03-20 with total page 668 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Please read entire description before purchase.*When a Biker with a tortured past, meets a mysterious woman in a dangerous situation, she becomes a light in his dark life that he'll do anything to keep. But she has a dark past of her own. One that is creeping ever closer, threatening to extinguish that light forever....*This is the story of Dean and Vanna. Two star crossed lovers who come to realize that they need each other to survive, in more ways than one. *Dean Keegan is a Vigilante Biker with a tortured past, who makes abusers of women and children pay for their crimes against the innocent. The story begins with Dean at rock bottom, on the verge of giving up after having lost his marriage and about to be thrown out of his club. His personal life is a wreck, but then Dean meets a unique woman named Vanna, who is unbeknownst to him, in hiding from her ex fiance cop currently doing time for nearly killing her years prior. They both have emotional scars and inner demons they're dealing with, that effect their lives and especially their budding relationship.*This is an in depth love story between two damaged characters that takes place in a small country town in a fictionalized region of the Carolina's. *The main story line of this book is wrapped up by the end, with a happily ever after for now (HEAFN), however there is a building story in the background that will continue and carry over into the upcoming Book 2. So technically you could say there is a "cliffhanger". *This isn't exactly an insta-love story, but could be considered a mutual insta-lust, that develops into true love. The circumstances around their relationship are unique and complicated at times, especially coming from two different walks of life. Dean and Vanna DO NOT cheat on each other, and though Vanna self identifies as a pagan witch, this is NOT written as a paranormal romance. There are witches in the world, just as there are bikers. It's up to the reader to decide whether or not spells or magic are real. Also, there isn't an extreme age gap (28h/37H)* SAVIOR Book 1, is not your typical MC Romance style book, though the main character is a Biker with connections to an MC. At 660+ pages, it is fast paced, and centers more heavily on the love story than MC politics, for a majority of the book. The MC politics are brewing in the background throughout the story, and will carry over into the sequel.* TRIGGER WARNING: Contains Explicit Adult Content: Sex, Profanity, Violence, Blasphemy, Brief Depictions of Abuse. Not recommended for anyone under the age of 18, or anyone triggered by the above mentioned.

Download or read book Seek the Precious Moments written by Becky Blackmon and published by Publishing Designs Incorporated. This book was released on 2019-01-11 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As we stand before the microwave and shout, "Hurry!" do we have any concept of what it means to be still? Do we seek moments for the blood-covered Savior who died for us on an old rugged cross? Becky Blackmon has answers for us in Seek the Precious Moments. The text is not parallel with most time-management books, but it conforms to the Good Book. Each of the 13 chapters is preceded by "Time with Becky" relating her experiences with hurrying, building her house for Jesus, and jumping into the deep end of commitment. One of her "times" describes her red-headed mom in trying moments, "She's Come Undone." The humorous narrative drives home the pointlessness of hurrying and the lasting benefit of spiritual renewal. From the first chapter, "I Am Woman, Hear Me Gasp!" to the last "Jesus Take the Wheel," readers are motivated to seek matters of the soul. Her tips on guiding parents to teach children to know the Lord are especially gripping in the chapter "Time to Love That Family." Readers participate in short "Pause and Ponder" thoughts and "Keep Seeking" scripture challenges. These "write-it-down" inserts make a life-changing impact on the heart of each reader. The bottom line question of yesterday, today, and tomorrow is, "Will you find the time for Jesus?" Pause, think, peruse, and consider. And with your Bible by your side, Seek the Precious Moments.

Book American Savior

    Book Details:
  • Author : Roland Merullo
  • Publisher : Algonquin Books
  • Release : 2008-08-26
  • ISBN : 9781565126077
  • Pages : 312 pages

Download or read book American Savior written by Roland Merullo and published by Algonquin Books. This book was released on 2008-08-26 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if Jesus suddenly appeared and announced that he planned to run for President of the United States? Yes, that Jesus. And what if a well-meaning but utterly inexperienced band of disciples not only helped him mount a seat-of-the-pants campaign but also ran it well, getting millions of people to support him and in the process throwing the other two major party candidates—as well as the world's news media—into a frenzy as they scramble to discredit him? Roland Merullo's bitingly clever satirical novel about the state of American politics follows one man's campaign to bring back goodness and kindness (real goodness and kindness this time) in a country that has fallen into a divisive state of fear and hatred. Merullo takes us into the heart of "a nation in grave spiritual danger" as the Son of man sets out to make everyone realize that "politics as usual" is no longer an acceptable alternative. American Savior is a remarkably innovative novel that challenges our perceptions and beliefs while it wags a finger at the folly of our self-righteousness. It is sure to cause controversy among those for whom politics itself has become a kind of religion.

Book excerpt: Christians know that God loves them, but can easily feel that he is perpetually disappointed and frustrated, maybe even close to giving up on them. As a result, they focus a lot—and rightly so—on what Jesus has done to appease God’s wrath for sin. But how does Jesus Christ actually feel about his people amid all their sins and failures? This book draws us to Matthew 11, where Jesus describes himself as “gentle and lowly in heart,” longing for his people to find rest in him. The gospel flows from God’s deepest heart for his people, a heart of tender love for the sinful and suffering. These chapters take readers into the depths of Christ’s very heart for sinners, diving deep into Bible passages that speak of who Christ is and encouraging readers with the affections of Christ for his people. His longing heart for sinners comforts and sustains readers in their up-and-down lives.
