Book Molecular Energy Transfer Studies

Download or read book Molecular Energy Transfer Studies written by Hyung Kyu Shin and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The major objective of this project was to develop theoretical models and techniques for describing vibrational relaxation in molecular collisions at low temperatures. If attractive forces are sufficiently strong, the colliding molecules can form a weakly bound complexes. Models have been developed to provide both a quantitative and a qualitative interpretation of the mechanisms and dynamics of intercomplex energy transfer processes. The processes considered in the investigation are; DF(v=1) + DF(v=0), H2O(010) + H2O(000), D2O(010) + D2O(000), and HCl(v=1) + Cl. The investigation included the determination of energy levels of newly formed bonds and internal oscillatory motions. In addition, the following aspects of molecular collisions have also been investigated; vibration-vibration energy transfer in CO2(00 deg. 1) + H2/D2, F-atom deexcitation of DF(v=1), approximate solution of the time-dependent Schrodinger equation for vibration-vibration energy transfer, and exact quantum mechanical treatment of vibration-translation energy transfer employing a step potential. Book Charge and Energy Transfer Dynamics in Molecular Systems

Download or read book Charge and Energy Transfer Dynamics in Molecular Systems written by Volkhard May and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-04-27 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 3rd edition has been expanded and updated to account for recent developments, while new illustrative examples as well as an enlarged reference list have also been added. It naturally retains the successful concept of its predecessors in presenting a unified perspective on molecular charge and energy transfer processes, thus bridging the regimes of coherent and dissipative dynamics, and establishing a connection between classic rate theories and modern treatments of ultrafast phenomena. Among the new topics are: - Time-dependent density functional theory - Heterogeneous electron transfer, e.g. between molecules and metal or semiconductor surfaces - Current flows through a single molecule. While serving as an introduction for graduate students and researchers, this is equally must-have reading for theoreticians and experimentalists, as well as an aid to interpreting experimental data and accessing the original literature.

Book Charge and Energy Transfer Dynamics in Molecular Systems

Download or read book Charge and Energy Transfer Dynamics in Molecular Systems written by Volkhard May and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-11-20 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second edition is based on the successful concept of the first edition in presenting a unified perspective on molecular charge and energy transfer processes. The authors bridge the regimes of coherent and dissipative dynamics, thus establishing the connection between classic rate theories and modern treatments of ultrafast phenomena. The book serves as an introduction for graduate students and researchers. Among the new topics of this second edition are - semiclassical and quantum-classical hybrid formulations of molecular dynamics - the basics of femtosecond nonlinear spectroscopy - electron transfer through molecular bridges and proteins - multidimensional tunneling in proton transfer reactions - two-exciton states and exciton annihilation in biological and nonbiological chromophore complexes More illustrating examples as well as an enlarged reference list are added. A new chapter gives an introduction into the theory of laser pulse control of molecular transfer processes.

Book Single Molecule Metal Induced Energy Transfer

Download or read book Single Molecule Metal Induced Energy Transfer written by Narain Karedla and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-07-19 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis presents a novel single-molecule spectroscopy method that, for the first time, allows the dipole orientations and fluorescence lifetimes of individual molecules to be measured simultaneously. These two parameters are needed to determine the position of individual molecules with nanometer accuracy near a metallic structure. Proof-of-principle experiments demonstrating the value of this new single-molecule localization concept are also presented. Lastly, the book highlights potential applications of the method in biophysics, molecular physics, soft matter and structural biology.

Book Potential Energy Surfaces and Dynamics Calculations

Download or read book Potential Energy Surfaces and Dynamics Calculations written by Donald Truhlar and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 859 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume is concerned with two of the central questions of chemical dynamics. What do we know about the energies of interaction of atoms and molecules with each other and with solid surfaces? How can such interaction energies be used to understand and make quantitative predictions about dynamical processes like scattering, energy transfer, and chemical reactions? It is becoming clearly recognized that the computer is leading to rapid progress in answering these questions. The computer allows probing dynamical mechanisms in fine detail and often allows us to answer questions that cannot be addressed with current experimental techniques. As we enter the 1980's, not only are more powerful and faster computers being used, but techniques and methods have been honed to a state where exciting and reliable data are being generated on a variety of systems at an unprecedented pace. The present volume presents a collection of work that illustrates the capabilities and some of the successes of this kind of computer-assisted research. In a 1978 Chemical Society Report, Frey and Walsh pointed out that "it is extremely doubtful if a calculated energy of activation for any unimolecular decomposition can replace an experimental deter mination. " However they also recorded that they "believe[d] that some of the elaborate calculations being performed at present do suggest that we may be approaching a time when a choice between reaction mechanisms will be helped by such [computational] work.
