Book Modulation Waveforms for Continuous Wave Radar

Download or read book Modulation Waveforms for Continuous Wave Radar written by William Fishbein and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The range of a radar is a function of average transmitter power and is independent of the modulation waveform. It does not matter whether the transmitter operates in a pulsed or CW mode. In many applications, an average power of only a few watts is adequate. In these cases, CW operation can have a number of advantages. Solid state power sources can readily be utilized and a single RF source can serve as both transmitter and local oscillator. Another advantage is waveform flexibility. In a CW radar the waveform can be designed to perform a variety of functions, e.g., detect fixed and moving targets, determine sense of radial velocity and communicate with a target over a fade-free channel. This paper describes waveforms and design techniques that can be used to achieve the above mentioned functions with a CW radar. (Author).

Book Waveform Design for Continuous Wave Radars

Download or read book Waveform Design for Continuous Wave Radars written by Matthias Kronauge and published by Cuvillier Verlag. This book was released on 2014-08-11 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Radar sensors detect objects, so-called targets, within an observation area and measure range and radial velocity relative to the location of the radar. The simultaneous, highly accurate and unambiguous measurement of range and radial velocity even in multi target situations is a matter of the appropriate waveform design. This thesis describes and analyzes state of the art waveforms for continuous wave radar. Based on these waveforms new approaches and enhancements are presented. In addition to that, detection methods are discussed and improved for the use in combination with the new radar waveforms.

Book Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave Radar Design and Simulation

Download or read book Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave Radar Design and Simulation written by Mark Christopher Fessia and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 107 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The intent of this project was to design and simulate a frequency modulated continuous wave (FM-CW) radar system capable of making target range and velocity measurements. MATLAB was used to model each component of the FM-CW radar system and simulate transmit and receive signal behavior, channel effects, and target radar cross section (RCS) characteristics. A top-down approach to the design of the FM-CW radar system was presented beginning with an overview of theory and architecture followed by a detailed explanation of each component in the signal path. Key interactions between components were discussed as well as potential differences between real world components and their simulated counterparts. An overview of the signal processing techniques and software architecture required to make target range and velocity measurements was also presented and implemented. An overall FM-CW radar system simulation was implemented in MATLAB including simulated channel effects and targets. The simulation was run so that resultant target range and velocity measurements were obtained and radar system performance and simulation fidelity were evaluated and presented.

Book Linearization of FM CW Radar Sweep by Feedback

Download or read book Linearization of FM CW Radar Sweep by Feedback written by Steven Alfred Marshall and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A frequency-modulated radar is a radar in which a continuous-wave transmission is frequency modulated in a known manner in order to obtain range information. When the frequency modulation is linear with time, the difference between the frequency of the received signal and the transmitted signal is directly proportional to the target range. The difference frequency is given by (2R/c)(df/dt), R being the range to the target, c the velocity of electromagnetic waves and df/dt the slope of the sawtooth frequency modulation. Therefore, the difference frequency is proportional to both range and the slope of the modulated waveform.
