In Sections 2 and With this destruction of nerve tissue there is an ih crease ih the growth of the connective supporting tissue. These two processes, one a failure of nutrition with a more or less complete destruction of nerve tissue, the other an increase in the normal nutri tive processes of the supporting connective tissue, go on side by side until a condition of sclerosis is established. These pathological changes may be more intense in one part of the cord than another. If the wasting and paralysis is more marked in the upper extremity than elsewhere in the body, the pathological changes in the cervical cord will be more intense than in sections lower down.
