The characters in these stories run the gamut, from the billboard-gracing Aiden in Cynthia Hamilton's Big Picture to life models in drawing classes and ordinary guys immortalised in a catalogue shoot in T. Hitman's When Gary Met Larry. They hook up with artists, photographers, roommates and lovers in locations from New York and Miami to a beach in Australia.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Male Modeling for Amateurs, an Uncensored Guide. I have been asked several times over the years by men that want to try amateur modeling, to see if I would consider writing a book to help and give a little information and insight in to amateur male modeling, this book is directed at and written for the average guy of all ages, big, small, short, tall, young or old, who have always wanted to try amateur male modeling and pose for photographers, artists, and painters, etc. . Doesn't matter if you're a student, accountant, cashier, mechanic, bartender, construction worker, military, landscaper, unemployed, or even retired, anyone can be an amateur model. I personally have photographed men from 18 years old to 56 years old. Please remember that this book is being written with “YOU” in mind and that anything said is designed to help you, no matter if this is just going to be a hobby or side thing, or you one day have hopes of breaking in to professional modeling in the hopes of it becoming a career. No matter where you live, most likely there are professional and amateur photographers, artists, painters, etc., and they all may need male models to pose for them. Some of this information also applies to being a more professional model, I have chosen to use a much more down to earth approach, because it seems in many circumstances however crude that this is more understandable to younger men, although I am speaking to all ages. So here we are “amateur” male modeling, I say amateur because that's the area I want to discuss specifically. I wrote this book for the everyday guys out there, whom would like to consider male modeling as a side job or hobby, a few times a month or maybe as a weekend thing. Side modeling can be fun and also put a little extra cash in your pocket! This is meant to be a straight forward uncensored guide to amateur male modeling, I'm going to talk about the possibilities, the benefits and pitfalls, including the stuff no one ever mentions. Book excerpt: You may think you’ve heard everything about the modeling industry from Tyra Banks, but Sex, Love, and Fashion is the real behind-the-scenes scoop, from a true insider who is considered one of the top ten male models of all time. In the glamorous galaxy of modeling, Bruce Hulse was a supernova. Taken under the wing of famed photographer Bruce Weber as a fledgling model, Hulse went on to collaborate with the industry’s biggest names as one of the world’s top male models. In the 1980s and 1990s, the exciting world of top models was filled with sex, drugs, and countless other indulgences. Bruce Hulse is one of the most recognizable figures of that time; from his iconic Calvin Klein and Levi's ads to his appearance on the cover of GQ, his face defined an era. In Sex, Love, and Fashion, Bruce shares the true stories of his globe-trotting career working with some of the industry’s biggest names–Calvin Klein, Janice Dickinson, Herb Ritts, Elle Macpherson, Andie MacDowell, Paulina Porizkova, and Cindy Crawford among them–and also details the exhilarating successes and painful failures he experienced on his way to the top. Bruce Hulse pulls back the curtain on the life of an international supermodel and reveals everything the cameras don’t expose. Book excerpt: "You can become irresistibly attractive to women without changing who you are." So says Mark Manson, superstar blogger and author of the international bestseller, The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck, a self help book that packs a punch. Mark brings the same approach to teaching men what they need to know about attracting women. In Models he shows us how much it sucks trying to attract women using the tricks and tactics recommended by other books. Instead, he says, men need to focus on seduction as an emotional process not a physical or social one. What matters is the intention, the motivation, the authenticity. To improve your dating life you must improve your emotional life - how you feel about yourself and how you express yourself to others. Funny, irreverent and confronting, Models is a mature and honest guide on how a man can attract women by giving up the bullsh*t and becoming an honest broker. "A detailed guide to modern sexual ethics" Sydney Morning Herald "There's nothing subtle about Mark Manson. He's crude and vulgar and doesn't give a f*ck . . . He's as painfully honest as he is outrageously funny" Huffington Post

Book Unmanly Men

    Book Details:
  • Author : Brittany E. Wilson
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2015

  • Pages : 360 pages

Download or read book Unmanly Men written by Brittany E. Wilson and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New Testament scholars typically assume that the men who pervade the pages of Luke's two volumes are models of an implied "manliness." Scholars rarely question how Lukan men measure up to ancient masculine mores, even though masculinity is increasingly becoming a topic of inquiry in the field of New Testament and its related disciplines. Drawing especially from gender-critical work in classics, Brittany Wilson addresses this lacuna by examining key male characters in Luke-Acts in relation to constructions of masculinity in the Greco-Roman world. Of all Luke's male characters, Wilson maintains that four in particular problematize elite masculine norms: namely, Zechariah (the father of John the Baptist), the Ethiopian eunuch, Paul, and, above all, Jesus. She further explains that these men do not protect their bodily boundaries nor do they embody corporeal control, two interrelated male gender norms. Indeed, Zechariah loses his ability to speak, the Ethiopian eunuch is castrated, Paul loses his ability to see, and Jesus is put to death on the cross. With these bodily "violations," Wilson argues, Luke points to the all-powerful nature of God and in the process reconfigures--or refigures--men's own claims to power. Luke, however, not only refigures the so-called prerogative of male power, but he refigures the parameters of power itself. According to Luke, God provides an alternative construal of power in the figure of Jesus and thus redefines what it means to be masculine. Thus, for Luke, "real" men look manifestly unmanly. Wilson's findings in Unmanly Men will shatter long-held assumptions in scholarly circles and beyond about gendered interpretations of the New Testament, and how they can be used to understand the roles of the Bible's key characters.

Book excerpt: The first comprehensive exploration on the subject of older men, Older Men's Lives offers a multidisciplinary portrait of men and their concerns in later life. Using both a life-course and gendered perspective, the contributors to this collection of original articles point out that the image and self-image of men are continuously reconstructed over the life cycle. They examine older men's position in society and the changes wrought in their status and roles over time. Their relationship with their spouses, children, grandchildren, and friends are also explored, as are policy implications of a gendered, life-cycle view of masculinity. This volume also discusses faith development in older men, masculinity identity from work to retirement, older men's sexuality, and older men's friendship patterns. Older Men's Lives will be of interest to professionals and students interested in gender, men's studies, gerontology, and sociology. "This book begins to remedy the lack of information and provides data and research on aging men. . . .The strength of this book is the specificity of its focus. By focusing solely on male concerns the book is able to identify issues in the male aging process and discuss them on their own terms rather than simply as a contrast to females." --Clinical Gerontologist

Book Men of Invention and Industry

Download or read book Men of Invention and Industry written by Samuel Smiles and published by Prabhat Prakashan. This book was released on 2007-06-07 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I offer this book as a continuation of the memoirs of men of invention and industry published some years ago in the 'Lives of Engineers,' 'Industrial Biography,' and 'Self-Help.' The early chapters relate to the history of a very important branch of British industry—that of Shipbuilding. A later chapter, kindly prepared by Sir Edward J. Harland, of Belfast, relates to the origin and progress of shipbuilding in Ireland. Many of the facts set forth in the Life and Inventions of William Murdock have already been published in my 'Lives of Boulton and Watt;' but these are now placed in a continuous narrative, and supplemented by other information, more particularly the correspondence between Watt and Murdock, communicated to me by the present representative of the family, Mr. Murdock, C.E., of Gilwern, near Abergavenny.
