Book Biomedical Product and Materials Evaluation

Download or read book Biomedical Product and Materials Evaluation written by P.V. Mohanan and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2022-01-22 with total page 808 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biomedical Product and Materials Evaluation: Standards and Ethics provides a much-needed overview of the procedures, issues, standards and ethical issues in the early development of biomedical products. The book covers a range of key biomedical products, from 3D printed organs and blood derived products, to stem calls and decellularized tissue products. Each chapter reviews a single product type, associated materials, biomedical applications, proven development strategies, and potential challenges. The core focus of the book is on the standardization and ethical aspects of biomedical product development, with these elements addressed and discussed in chapters dedicated to product evaluation. This is a useful reference for academics, researchers and industry professionals in R&D groups with an interest in biomaterial research and production, as well as those working in the fields of biomedical engineering, biotechnology and toxicology. Covers a variety of biomedical products, including specific biomaterials, organs-on-chips, wound care products, combinational products, and more Delves into strategies and considerations for product evaluation, including cytotoxicity assays, microbial and blood compatibility studies Discusses standardization and ethical hurdles in biomedical product development and how to overcome them

Book The CIPP Evaluation Model

Download or read book The CIPP Evaluation Model written by Daniel L. Stufflebeam and published by Guilford Publications. This book was released on 2017-03-07 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The book's chapters provide background on how and why the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) Model was developed; a detailed presentation of the model; an explanation of the key role of an evaluation-oriented leader, who can decide what and when to evaluate; detailed presentations on evaluation design, budgeting, and contracting; procedures and tools for collecting, analyzing, and reporting evaluation information; and procedures for conducting standards-based meta-evaluations (evaluations of evaluations). These topics are interspersed with illustrative evaluation cases in such areas as education, housing, and military personnel evaluation"--

Book Material Evaluation Part I Mechanical Property Testing and Materials Evaluation and Modeling

Download or read book Material Evaluation Part I Mechanical Property Testing and Materials Evaluation and Modeling written by Noel E. Ashbaugh and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To accomplish the assessment of the characteristics of materials which are currently being used or which may be used in airframes and in gas-turbine engines, the following three tasks were performed--development and implementation of mechanical test methods, research on the application of solid mechanics to failure prediction, and investigation of environmental effects upon mechanical behavior. Some of the test methods which were developed in the first task were a low-cycle-fatigue (LCF) test capability, an experimental set-up to evaluate crack growth under sustained load, and a capability to conduct crack-growth tests under spectrum loads. In these tests the temperature range was normally between 538 C (1000 F) and 760 C (1400 F), and the specimen geometries were uniform gage specimens for the LCF tests, compact-type (CT) specimens for the sustained-load crack-growth tests, and CT and wedge-opening-loaded (WOL) specimens for crack-growth tests under spectrum loads. The tests which were conducted on material behavior provided data for at least 30 reports and journal articles. These tests, in addition to the previously developed tests, included uniaxial tension and compression tests, creep tests, fatigue-life tests, and single and multiple overload and underload tests. The temperature range for these tests was between room temperature and 760 C (1400 F). Equipment and instrumentation which were designed and fabricated for these tests included resistant furnaces, induction coils, d.c. conditioners, and power controllers.

Book Selecting Instructional Materials

Download or read book Selecting Instructional Materials written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1999-11-17 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The National Science Education Standards set broad content goals for teaching grades K-12. For science teaching programs to achieve these goalsâ€"indeed, for science teaching to be most effectiveâ€"teachers and students need textbooks, lab kits, videos, and other materials that are clear, accurate, and help students achieve the goals set by the standards. Selecting Instructional Materials provides a rigorously field-tested procedure to help education decisionmakers evaluate and choose materials for the science classroom. The recommended procedure is unique, adaptable to local needs, and realistic given the time and money limitations typical to school districts. This volume includes a guide outlining the entire process for school district facilitators, and provides review instruments for each step. It critically reviews the current selection process for science teaching materialsâ€"in the 20 states where the state board of education sets forth a recommended list and in the 30 states where materials are selected entirely by local decisionmakers. Selecting Instructional Materials explores how purchasing decisions are influenced by parent attitudes, political considerations, and the marketing skills of those who produce and sell science teaching materials. It will be indispensable to state and local education decisionmakers, science program administrators and teachers, and science education advocates.

Book Fire and Smoke Resistant Interior Materials for Commercial Transport Aircraft

Download or read book Fire and Smoke Resistant Interior Materials for Commercial Transport Aircraft written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1996-01-19 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The two principal objectives of this book were (1) to identify promising materials technologies, design issues (both overall and for individual components), and fire performance parameters (both full scale and for individual components) that, if properly optimized, would lead to improved fire and smoke resistance of materials and components used in aircraft interiors; and (2) to identify long-range research directions that hold the most promise for producing predictive modeling capability, new advanced materials, and the required product development to achieve totally fire-resistant interiors in future aircrafts. The emphasis of the study is on long-term innovation leading to impacts on fire worthiness of aircraft interiors ten to twenty years hence.
