Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The architecture of the human language faculty has been one of the main foci of the linguistic research of the last half century. This branch of linguistics, broadly known as Generative Grammar, is concerned with the formulation of explanatory formal accounts of linguistic phenomena with the ulterior goal of gaining insight into the properties of the 'language organ'. The series comprises high quality monographs and collected volumes that address such issues. The topics in this series range from phonology to semantics, from syntax to information structure, from mathematical linguistics to studies of the lexicon. Book ReNEUAL Model Rules on EU Administrative Procedure

Download or read book ReNEUAL Model Rules on EU Administrative Procedure written by Paul Craig and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2017-06-09 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Research Network on EU Administrative Law (ReNEUAL) was established in 2009 and now comprises well over one hundred scholars and practitioners active in the field of EU and comparative public law. The aim of the network is to contribute to the development of a legal framework in which the constitutional values of the EU can be embedded in the exercise of public authority. Drafted by four working groups addressing the main aspects of EU administrative procedure, the ReNEUAL Model Rules offer a toolkit for European and domestic authorities seeking to regulate administrative action, reinforcing general principles of EU law and identifying, on the basis of comparative research, best practices in different specific policies of the EU. The book includes an extended introduction chapter, followed by the Model Rules, which are organised into six parts. Part I addresses general issues concerning the scope of the Model Rules and their relation to existing rules in EU legislation and Member State law; Part II is concerned with rulemaking by EU institutions, bodies, offices, and agencies; Part III focuses on single case decision-making by EU institutions, bodies, offices, and agencies; Part IV addresses contracts of EU institutions, bodies, offices, and agencies; Part V discusses mutual assistance between administrations; and Part VI addresses inter-administrative information management.

Provides insights on the development of new mathematical models of power system optimization Analyzes power systems comprehensively to create novel mathematic models and algorithms for issues related to the planning operation of power systems Includes research on the optimization of power systems and related practical research projects carried out since 1981

Book Advanced Topics in Revenue Law

Download or read book Advanced Topics in Revenue Law written by John Tiley and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2013-01-07 with total page 537 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The last several years have seen fundamental changes to the UK tax system. Nearly the entirety of the UK corporation tax and international tax rules have been rewritten by three new statutes – the Corporation Tax Acts 2009 and 2010 and the Taxation (International and Other Provisions) Act 2010. The UK has also implemented major new policies affecting the taxation of pensions, charities, savings vehicles, 'non-doms' and the foreign profits of UK companies. In addition, European Union law, and especially the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union, has had an increasingly important impact on UK corporation tax and international tax law in particular. This new book on advanced topics in UK tax law is derived from material previously found in John Tiley's major text on Revenue Law that has been expanded and comprehensively updated to take account of these developments. The book deals with Corporation Tax, International and European Tax, Savings and Charities, in a manageable and portable volume for law students and practitioners. It complements the material on UK Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, and Inheritance Tax found in Revenue Law, 7th edition. Unlike other tax law books, this text explains the new rules found in CTA 2009, CTA 2010 and TIOPA 2010 in light of its legislative predecessors. The book contains extensive references to the new legislation and also to the former enactments in ICTA 1988 and elsewhere. Those familiar with the old law but wanting to find their way round the new will find this work particularly valuable. The book is designed for law students taking advanced tax courses in the final year of their law degree course and for graduate students, but is intended to be of interest to all who enjoy tax law. Its purpose is not only to provide an account of the rules but to include citation of the relevant literature from legal periodicals and some discussion of or reference to the background material in terms of policy, history or other countries' tax systems.

Book Enumerability Decidability Computability

Download or read book Enumerability Decidability Computability written by Hans Hermes and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The task of developing algorithms to solve problems has always been considered by mathematicians to be an especially interesting and im portant one. Normally an algorithm is applicable only to a narrowly limited group of problems. Such is for instance the Euclidean algorithm, which determines the greatest common divisor of two numbers, or the well-known procedure which is used to obtain the square root of a natural number in decimal notation. The more important these special algorithms are, all the more desirable it seems to have algorithms of a greater range of applicability at one's disposal. Throughout the centuries, attempts to provide algorithms applicable as widely as possible were rather unsuc cessful. It was only in the second half of the last century that the first appreciable advance took place. Namely, an important group of the inferences of the logic of predicates was given in the form of a calculus. (Here the Boolean algebra played an essential pioneer role. ) One could now perhaps have conjectured that all mathematical problems are solvable by algorithms. However, well-known, yet unsolved problems (problems like the word problem of group theory or Hilbert's tenth problem, which considers the question of solvability of Diophantine equations) were warnings to be careful. Nevertheless, the impulse had been given to search for the essence of algorithms. Leibniz already had inquired into this problem, but without success.
