Book Mathematical Models for Structural Reliability Analysis

Download or read book Mathematical Models for Structural Reliability Analysis written by Fabio Casciati and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1996-07-24 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematical Models for Structural Reliability Analysis offers mathematical models for describing load and material properties in solving structural engineering problems. Examples are provided, demonstrating how the models are implemented, and the limitations of the models are clearly stated. Analytical solutions are also discussed, and methods are clearly distinguished from models. The authors explain both theoretical models and practical applications in a clear, concise, and readable fashion.

Book Computational Stochastic Mechanics

Download or read book Computational Stochastic Mechanics written by P.D. Spanos and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 886 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over a period of several years the field of probabilistic mechanics and com putational mechanics have progressed vigorously, but independently. With the advent of powerful computational hardware and the development of novel mechanical techniques, the field of stochastic mechanics has progressed in such a manner that the inherent uncertainty of quite complicated systems can be addressed. The first International Conference on Computational Stochastic Mechanics was convened in Corfu in September 1991 in an ef fort to provide a forum for the exchanging of ideas on the current status of computational methods as applied to stochastic mechanics and for identi fying needs for further research. The Conference covered both theoretical techniques and practical applications. The Conference also celebrated the 60th anniversary of the birthday of Dr. Masanobu Shinozuka, the Sollenberger Professor of Civil Engineering at Princeton University, whose work has contributed in such a great measure to the development of Computational Stochastic Mechanics. A brief sum mary of his career and achievements are given in the Dedication. This book comprises some of the papers presented at the meeting and cov ers sections on Theoretical Reliability Analysis; Damage Analysis; Applied Reliability Analysis; Theoretical Random Vibrations; Stochastic Finite Ele ment Concept; Fatigue and Fracture; Monte Carlo Simulations; Earthquake Engineering Applications; Materials; Applied Random Vibrations; Applied Stochastic Finite Element Analysis, and Flow Related Applications and Chaotic Dynamics. The Editors hope that the book will be a valuable contribution to the grow ing literature covering the field of Computational Stochastic Mechanics.

Book Random Vibration and Statistical Linearization

Download or read book Random Vibration and Statistical Linearization written by John Brian Roberts and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1990 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interest in the study of random vibration problems using the concepts of stochastic process theory has grown rapidly due to the need to design structures and machinery which can operate reliably when subjected to random loads, for example winds and earthquakes.

Book Random Vibrations

Download or read book Random Vibrations written by Loren D. Lutes and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2004-01-24 with total page 651 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The topic of Random Vibrations is the behavior of structural and mechanical systems when they are subjected to unpredictable, or random, vibrations. These vibrations may arise from natural phenomena such as earthquakes or wind, or from human-controlled causes such as the stresses placed on aircraft at takeoff and landing. Study and mastery of this topic enables engineers to design and maintain structures capable of withstanding random vibrations, thereby protecting human life.Random Vibrations will lead readers in a user-friendly fashion to a thorough understanding of vibrations of linear and nonlinear systems that undergo stochastic—random—excitation. Provides over 150 worked out example problems and, along with over 225 exercises, illustrates concepts with true-to-life engineering design problems Offers intuitive explanations of concepts within a context of mathematical rigor and relatively advanced analysis techniques. Essential for self-study by practicing engineers, and for instruction in the classroom.

Book Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions

Download or read book Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions written by Yohei Endo and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-10-03 with total page 1340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gathers the peer-reviewed papers presented at the 13th International Conference on Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions (SAHC), held in Kyoto, Japan, on September 12-15, 2023. It highlights the latest advances and innovations in the field of conservation and restoration of historical and heritage structures. The conference topics encompass history of construction and building technology, theory and practice of conservation, inspection methods, non-destructive techniques and laboratory testing, numerical modeling and structural analysis, management of heritage structures and conservation strategies, structural health monitoring, repair and strengthening strategies and techniques, vernacular constructions, seismic analysis and retrofit, vulnerability and risk analysis, resilience of historic areas to climate change and hazard events, durability, and sustainability. As such the book represents an invaluable, up-to-the-minute tool, providing an essential overview of conservation of historical constructions, and offers an important platform to engineers, architects, archeologists, and geophysicists. Chapter The Challenges of the Conservation of Earthen Sites in Seismic Areas, Chapter Performance Evaluation of Patch Repairs on Historic Concrete Structures (PEPS): Preliminary Results from Two English Case Studies are available open access under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License via link.springer.com.
