En effet les caractéristiques de fonctionnement des composants et la fiabilité des systemes dépendent fortement de la température. Nous avons développé un outil de modélisation des transferts de chaleur dans les composants électroniques de puissance qui permet d'optimiser leur structure d'un point de vue thermique. Ses performances en terme de temps de calcul permettent cette optimisation sans avoir recours à des modèles réduits. La méthode ne nécessite pas de maillage de la structure et son caractère analytique en fait une méthode adaptée à la caractérisation expérimentale des composants. Le premier chapitre est consacré à la mise en place des outils de modélisation thermique de structures à géométrie multibloc, c'est-à-dire de structures composées d'empilements pyramidaux de blocs parallélépipédiques, géométries caractéristiques des composants électroniques de puissance. Le deuxième chapitre est centré sur la validation et l'estimation des performances de la méthode. La simulation thermique d'un module IGBT (lnsulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) est réalisée. Une procédure de conception optimale d'un diffuseur est proposée. La faisabilité de la prise en compte par la méthode des quadripôles thermiques du couplage entre un canal fluide et ses parois solides, ou de la modélisation d'un radiateur à ailettes, est également démontrée. Le troisième et dernier chapitre est consacré à la mise au point d'outils de caractérisation d'empilements, de métrologie de température sur les IGBTs et de fluxmètrie par conduction inverse. Une procédure de mesure de température sur la surface d'un composant est également mise au point. La mesure est réàlisée par thermographie infrarouge, phosphorescence induite U.V. et par l'intermédiaire d'un paramètre thermosensible afin de procéder à la cartographie des emissivités. La perspective d'utiliser un composant électronique comme fluxmètre est également envisagée.

Franck Laloë was a researcher at the Kastler-Brossel laboratory of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris. His first assignment was with the University of Paris VI before he was appointed to the CNRS, the French National Research Center. His research was focused on optical pumping, statistical mechanics of quantum gases, musical acoustics and the foundations of quantum mechanics.

Among the five books Weyl published with Princeton, Algebraic Theory of Numbers inaugurated the Annals of Mathematics Studies book series, a crucial and enduring foundation of Princeton's mathematics list and the most distinguished book series in mathematics.
