Book Mixed Categories

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our book on nominalizations in Quechua summarizes the work we have carried out on. this language over the last ten years. We are happy to offer it as a contribution to linguistic theory. For their interest, friendship and patience, we thank the numerous Quechua speakers who gave us access to their language, making it possible for us to reach an understanding of it which led us to writing this book. More specifically we would like to thank our Cuzco informants who contributed directly in the estab lishment of the data base on which our analyses are built: Angelica and Justo Leon Baca, Evaristo Vasquez, Felix Mamani, Jose Rodriguez, Lita Cancino Chac6n, Mercedes Ordonez Calder6n, Carlos Quispe Centeno. We want to thank students and colleagues in Amherst, Amsterdam, Cam bridge, Lima, Montreal, and Tilburg for fruitful discussions on several of the issues raised in this book; particularly, Hans den Besten, Reineke Bok-Bennema, Dan Finer, Anneke Groos, Ken Hale, Simon van de Kerke, Jaklin Kornfilt, James Pustejovsky, Felix Quesada, Henk van Riemsdijk, Tom Roeper, Gustavo Solis, Edwin Williams and the students of the seminar on nominalizations (UQAM, Fall 1983).

Book Triangulated Categories of Mixed Motives

Download or read book Triangulated Categories of Mixed Motives written by Denis-Charles Cisinski and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-11-09 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary aim of this monograph is to achieve part of Beilinson’s program on mixed motives using Voevodsky’s theories of A1-homotopy and motivic complexes. Historically, this book is the first to give a complete construction of a triangulated category of mixed motives with rational coefficients satisfying the full Grothendieck six functors formalism as well as fulfilling Beilinson’s program, in particular the interpretation of rational higher Chow groups as extension groups. Apart from Voevodsky’s entire work and Grothendieck’s SGA4, our main sources are Gabber’s work on étale cohomology and Ayoub’s solution to Voevodsky’s cross functors theory. We also thoroughly develop the theory of motivic complexes with integral coefficients over general bases, along the lines of Suslin and Voevodsky. Besides this achievement, this volume provides a complete toolkit for the study of systems of coefficients satisfying Grothendieck’ six functors formalism, including Grothendieck-Verdier duality. It gives a systematic account of cohomological descent theory with an emphasis on h-descent. It formalizes morphisms of coefficient systems with a view towards realization functors and comparison results. The latter allows to understand the polymorphic nature of rational mixed motives. They can be characterized by one of the following properties: existence of transfers, universality of rational algebraic K-theory, h-descent, étale descent, orientation theory. This monograph is a longstanding research work of the two authors. The first three parts are written in a self-contained manner and could be accessible to graduate students with a background in algebraic geometry and homotopy theory. It is designed to be a reference work and could also be useful outside motivic homotopy theory. The last part, containing the most innovative results, assumes some knowledge of motivic homotopy theory, although precise statements and references are given.

Book Risks and Vulnerabilities in the U S Bond Mutual Fund Industry

Download or read book Risks and Vulnerabilities in the U S Bond Mutual Fund Industry written by Antoine Bouveret and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2021-04-29 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper assesses liquidity risk for the United States (U.S.) bond mutual funds industry and performs a range of analyses to identify which fund categories are more vulnerable to distress than others, and how sales from funds can impact financial stability. We develop a new measure to identify vulnerable categories based on expected outflows labelled ‘Flows in Distress’. Overall, most U.S. mutual funds are resilient yet high yield (HY) and loan funds would face a liquidity shortfall when faced with severe redemption shocks. Combined sales from funds can have a sizeable price impact. Finally, our contagion analysis using data on fund flows and returns shows that Investment Grade (IG) corporate bonds funds, municipal bond funds and government bond funds are more likely to spread distress to other fund categories than HY, EM and loan funds. When the first type of funds experiences stress, other funds categories are likely to experience stress as well.

Book Cross Categorial Classification

Download or read book Cross Categorial Classification written by Serge Sagna and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2022-03-07 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Languages in which non-finite verbs (infinitives, gerunds etc.) are classified using the same linguistic means as nouns are rare. This typologically unusual phenomenon is found in some Atlantic (Niger-Congo) languages, including Jóola languages like Eegimaa, Fogny and Kwatay, where several different noun class/gender prefixes (NCPs) are used to classify both nouns and verbs. In this book, it is argued following Sagna (2008), that these parallel morphosyntactic classifications in the nominal domain and verbal domains also reflect parallel semantic categorisation of entities and events. The main topics investigated in this book are word class flexibility between nouns and verbs, non-finiteness, noun class/gender (where morphological classes are analysed separately from agreement classes) and the semantic principles underlying the categorisation of entities and events. One of the central findings proposed in this book is that instances of NCP alternations on non-finite verbs reflect strategies of event delimitation. This book will be of interest to scholars investigating parts-of-speech systems, finiteness, systems of nominal and verbal classification, and linguistic categorization.
