Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An encyclopedic work! This comprehensive volume is an impressive integration of European and North American research, providing the most complete information to date regarding the problems and solutions associated with aquatic liming. The book gives readers a thorough understanding of the complexities of liming by providing detailed information on design, use, and effects of liming systems for acidic surface waters. It also includes a complete and objective review of liming successes and failures, providing additional information to help readers determine how well a particular method will restore and protect the affected biota. This book is essential for anyone interested in the restoration of acidic lakes and streams.

Book Practical Guide to Managing Acidic Surface Waters and Their Fisheries

Download or read book Practical Guide to Managing Acidic Surface Waters and Their Fisheries written by Robert W. Brocksen and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1992-01-14 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Practical Guide to Managing Acidic Surface Waters and Their Fisheries explains how to manage acidic surface waters to preserve or restore fisheries. The work gives readers the basic tools to carry out a variety of surface water management activities. Topics include biological productivity and recovery, costs of liming, fish stocking, lake liming techniques, nutrients, regulations and permits, sampling, stream liming techniques, water quality analysis, and watershed liming techniques. The book will be a useful reference for fishing club managers, state and local government personnel, lake association managers, and others responsible for maintaining lakes and streams that may be affected by acidity from any source.

Book Liming of Acidified Surface Waters

Download or read book Liming of Acidified Surface Waters written by Lennart Henrikson and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-11-22 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acidification is one of the most serious environmental problems - especially in Sweden, which suffers most from the consequences of acid rain. Besides international negotiations to reduce sulphur emissions - 85% of the acid load on Sweden can be traced to emissions from outside the country itself - the Swedish Government has employed large-scale, operative liming activities to counteract acidification of surface waters. The scientific results show that - although acidification cannot be solved by liming alone - the measures taken resulted in substantial improvements to around 8,000 Swedish lakes and watercourses. The idea is that other countries affected by acidification may also profit from this experience.
