Book excerpt: Our Vision: It should be a birthright for every person to have a chance to respond to the Gospel. According to God's Word, this Gospel will be preached as a testimony to all nations and then the end will come (Matt.24:14). However, it is also clear in Scripture that Jesus will be return is imminenting soon even if the "day or hour' is not known. . These two truths should compel us greatly to take action and to do our part in finishing fulfilling the Great Commission, that every tribe, tongue, and nation will be represented in the blood washed church of Jesus Christ (Rev. 5:9) Mission One Eleven's purpose is to raise up a generation of laborers committed to reaching the unreached-people who have not had a chance, or at least an adequate chance, to respond to the gospel. There are roughly 2.8 billion people who have still not had a chance to respond to the gospel. Who We Are: Mission One Eleven is a turnkey missions program that will excite and energize your congregation for missions work. The structure is already established, set up, and easy to implement in you're own church or school. It gives the local body of Christ full participation in completing the Great Commission of reaching "every tribe and nation" with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Mission One Eleven strengthens and complements your existing missions program by empowering you to send your own people to reach the unreached tribes throughout the world. In return, this experience greatly raises the passion and call towards mission work throughout your congregation. The Solution: We have developed a very effective 12-week program that consists of six weeks of training and six weeks among an unreached tribe. Our goal is to present this program to the local church body to enable them to personally reach the unreached with the gospel of Jesus Christ. 1) We would like to partner with you and your congregation to raise up laborers to take part in and run the program. 2) We are not selling our program but rather providing the structure and initial resources required to run your own missions program. Upon partnering, all the resources necessary to help you begin training your own congregation and providing for them an opportunity to reach the unreached are yours to implement along with our help. The goal is that people from your own congregation would rise up to carry on the program within your church or school by training the next set of students and sending them out. Also, we believe that from this opportunity, some will return with clarity of a full-time call and a path should be provided for them to pursue full-time mission work.

Book Introduction to the Physics and Techniques of Remote Sensing

Download or read book Introduction to the Physics and Techniques of Remote Sensing written by Charles Elachi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-05-11 with total page 572 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The science and engineering of remote sensing--theory and applications The Second Edition of this authoritative book offers readers the essential science and engineering foundation needed to understand remote sensing and apply it in real-world situations. Thoroughly updated to reflect the tremendous technological leaps made since the publication of the first edition, this book covers the gamut of knowledge and skills needed to work in this dynamic field, including: * Physics involved in wave-matter interaction, the building blocks for interpreting data * Techniques used to collect data * Remote sensing applications The authors have carefully structured and organized the book to introduce readers to the basics, and then move on to more advanced applications. Following an introduction, Chapter 2 sets forth the basic properties of electromagnetic waves and their interactions with matter. Chapters 3 through 7 cover the use of remote sensing in solid surface studies, including oceans. Each chapter covers one major part of the electromagnetic spectrum (e.g., visible/near infrared, thermal infrared, passive microwave, and active microwave). Chapters 8 through 12 then cover remote sensing in the study of atmospheres and ionospheres. Each chapter first presents the basic interaction mechanism, followed by techniques to acquire, measure, and study the information, or waves, emanating from the medium under investigation. In most cases, a specific advanced sensor is used for illustration. The book is generously illustrated with fifty percent new figures. Numerous illustrations are reproduced in a separate section of color plates. Examples of data acquired from spaceborne sensors are included throughout. Finally, a set of exercises, along with a solutions manual, is provided. This book is based on an upper-level undergraduate and first-year graduate course taught by the authors at the California Institute of Technology. Because of the multidisciplinary nature of the field and its applications, it is appropriate for students in electrical engineering, applied physics, geology, planetary science, astronomy, and aeronautics. It is also recommended for any engineer or scientist interested in working in this exciting field.

Book excerpt: In The Eleven, Michon lets us into the world of Corentin, a painter shaped by—and who eventually shapes—history. Brought up among provincial aristocracy to become a favorite of Parisian society—his paintings are commissioned by Louis XV’s mistress—Corentin’s career rides the Tides of the French Revolution. His masterpiece, "The Eleven," is an enigmatic Last Supper, representing the eleven members of the Committee of Public Safety (including Robespierre and Saint Just) during the Reign of Terror. Corentin and company, his work of art, and the historical tableau of the French Revolution come to life in dazzling, even painterly, detail. A potent blend of fact and fiction, The Eleven is a beautifully written, astute meditation on the nature of history itself and the artist’s role in it.

Book excerpt: “An epic thriller about a secret Nazi submarine and its mission . . . a tasty combination of Ken Follett and Clive Cussler” from the award-winning author (The Novel Pursuit). Cruising from the sub pens of Trondheim under the cover of darkness—undetected by the sonar scans of Allied enemies—Kapitaenleutnant Erich Heinz Bruckner leads the experimental submarine U-5001 in a last-ditch effort for Nazi victory. But their sinister 1945 voyage ends mysteriously: Bruckner and his crew vanish, along with their classified weapon of mass destruction. Seventy years later, ex-Navy diver Dexter Bucklin stumbles upon an unknown vessel in the depths of the Chesapeake Bay and is consumed with the need to discover its original, terrifying mission—inadvertently alerting a worldwide cabal that knows all about the U-5001 . . . and the keys it holds to even greater secrets. A thriller in the tradition of Ken Follett and Robert Ludlum, Submerged follows both Bruckner and Bucklin in a narrative that spans generations of adventure and horror—Lovecraftian tales at their most strange. As these men’s lives converge, a third element surfaces, influencing the Kapitaenleutnant and the ex-Navy diver to make increasingly desperate decisions, ones that will shape the future of civilization. Thomas F. Monteleone expertly blends history, fact, and fiction with a subtle dose of the supernatural in this Lovecraftian page-turner. Praise for Thomas F. Monteleone “Monteleone has a dark imagination, a wicked pen, and the rare ability to convey an evil chill with words.” —Dean Koontz, New York Times–bestselling author “Tom’s an expert storyteller.” —F. Paul Wilson, author of The Keep and Deep as the Marrow “A vastly entertaining novel of horror and suspense [that poses] difficult questions about the nature of man, God and the devil.” —Los Angeles Daily News
