Une vingtaine d'années plus tard, l'émergence de systèmes de robotisations en pharmacies ont permis l'optimisation de la délivrance et du rangement des médicaments. Il existe différents systèmes de robotisations, à savoir : les automates, les robots et les robomates. Enfin la e-prescription permettra une communication directement entre le médecin et le pharmacien sans passer par le biais du patient. Supprimant ainsi les ordonnances papier et permettant au pharmacien d'évoluer dans l'ère du temps.
