Ce programme de stimulation relationnelle, basé à la maison et dirigé par les parents, s'adresse aux enfants autistes et à leur famille, et vise à développer les habiletés sociales par le jeu en suivant les intérêts de l'enfant. Le peu de littérature scientifique disponible au sujet de ce programme fait ressortir la pertinence de l'évaluer en commençant par une évaluation de son évaluabilité. Une analyse des documents principaux du programme ainsi que dix entrevues avec des parties prenantes variées ont mené à des recommandations pour les évaluations futures. Le programme Son-Rise serait suffisamment bien construit et stable pour être évaluable, mais son contexte d'implantation pourrait être un obstacle à l'évaluation.

Book excerpt: Les recommandations de la Haute Autorité de Santé de 2012 et le plan autisme 2013-2017 prévoient la mise en place de formations pour les parents d'enfants avec un Trouble du Spectre Autistique (TSA) afin de leur offrir " les connaissances et outils leur permettant de faire face au quotidien " au trouble de leur enfant. Ce travail de thèse visait à préciser, grâce à une méthode mixte de recherche, les apports et les limites d'un programme de formation proposé par le Centre Ressources Autisme de la Région Midi-Pyrénées. Neuf parents ayant participé à la session pilote de ce programme en hiver 2013 ont été inclus et ont participé aux trois journées de formation proposées. Au terme de 6 mois de suivi, l'ensemble des participants témoignaient d'un haut degrés de satisfaction. On notait un apport de connaissances présent mais modéré, limité dans ses applications pratiques. Les participants mettaient en avant, bien qu'inattendu le bénéfice important perçu dans la rencontre avec d'autres parents.

Des programmes de formation aux habiletés parentales (PFHP) sont susceptibles d'entraîner une amélioration du stress parental et du comportement de l'enfant. Cette étude vise à développer et évaluer un PFHP francophone basé sur l'analyse appliquée du comportement. Ce PFHP a été évalué auprès d'un groupe pilote de 6 parents. Une augmentation des connaissances sur les TSA et les pratiques éducatives est observée ainsi qu'une amélioration du comportement de l'enfant. Les parents considèrent les objectifs ciblés comme importants, les procédures transmises comme acceptables et les effets observés comme satisfaisants. Le PFHP a été amélioré et évalué auprès de 18 parents. Une augmentation des connaissances et des pratiques éducatives est observée avec une amélioration des compétences sociales des enfants. Pour 16 parents, une amélioration au niveau du stress est remarquée. Un manuel de ce PFHP a été élaboré.

As partial justification for its position, the Air Force cites a University of Colorado study that was contracted and paid for by federal funds.
