Book Miracles of Book and Body

    Book Details:
  • Author : Charlotte Eubanks
  • Publisher : Univ of California Press
  • Release : 2011-01-01
  • ISBN : 0520947894

Download or read book Miracles of Book and Body written by Charlotte Eubanks and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 578 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Miracles of Book and Body is the first book to explore the intersection of two key genres of sacred literature in medieval Japan: sutras, or sacred Buddhist texts, and setsuwa, or "explanatory tales," used in sermons and collected in written compilations. For most of East Asia, Buddhist sutras were written in classical Chinese and inaccessible to many devotees. How, then, did such devotees access these texts? Charlotte D. Eubanks argues that the medieval genre of "explanatory tales" illuminates the link between human body (devotee) and sacred text (sutra). Her highly original approach to understanding Buddhist textuality focuses on the sensual aspects of religious experience and also looks beyond Japan to explore pre-modern book history, practices of preaching, miracles of reading, and the Mahayana Buddhist "cult of the book."

Book Brainwashed and Miracles

Book excerpt: No rational mind - given the evidence of buttons and buttonholes in an article of clothing - would deny that both "intelligence" and "design" played roles in the fabrication of such a garment, but - mystery of mysteries - the brightest and most educated in our culture, reject such considerations for all the infinitely more complex living organisms, insisting (dogmatically) that they somehow "evolved" by haphazard, sequential, random mutations. A challenge is therefore, proposed - to anyone anti-"Intelligent Designer", who believes he has not been "brain-washed", but who has at least a "hair-line crack" to open-mindedness - to refute the material herein - the non-factuality and astronomical improbabilities of pure random-chance-mutations of individual elements (among the multi-billions in the DNA helix) as a credible belief system in explaining: ü the spider, butterfly, or bacterium flagellum (Pajaro Dunes Micro-Biology Conference scientists challenging Darwinism); ü male-female sexuality feelings: irresistible sex-drive before; gratification after - evoking propagation and proliferation of mammalian species; ü the (simple, yet ever so complex) umbilical cord concept for mammals - from kittens to humans? This book is a scholarly review (in layman terms) of all pertinent aspects of Science versus Bible in all applicable fields: Archaeology, Astronomy, Biology, Cosmology, Egyptology, Paleontology, Physics, etc., with over 300 references to the arcane writings of world-class scientists, hi

Book excerpt: Share Edward’s story and understand why he is so sure that life goes on in the Afterlife. With breathtaking honesty, Edward Jeffries guides us through his failures and a sequence of miracles that changed his life. The first miracle happened when his neck was damaged in a car accident and then unexpectedly healed. Why me? he wondered, since his way of life had certainly earned no favours from God. His increasing addiction to alcohol caused the break-up of his second marriage. He had hurt a lot of people and landed himself in poverty. What a waste, after his first-class honours degree! Two kind neighbours took him to a healing service, but it did nothing to help. Things worsened further when his wife poured boiling water over him, spectactularly ending their marriage. His neighbours took him to another healing service, but Edward didn’t move until everyone had left the chapel. He made his way to the front of the church, he hugged the rough wooden cross and spoke from the heart, declaring that he forgave his wife. From that moment on, he was a changed man. In that moment, his alcohol addition disappeared and never returned. This miracle was followed by more, and an unexpected gift – a new relationship with a clairvoyant lady. They later married and developed their spirituality together, frequently seeing visitors from the afterlife. Knowing that we continue to live after death has totally changed Edward’s attitude towards life and other people. He would like to share these positive aspects of his life, before it is too late. Miraclesis his story, both an autobiographical tale of his life and an account of what Edward believes is evidence of heaven, and the existence of life after death. The book will appeal to fans of autobiographies, as well as believers and non-believers in God and spirituality.

Book Miracles of Simple People

    Book Details:
  • Author : Tabor Hermon
  • Publisher : Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
  • Release : 2022-11-03
  • ISBN : 1640284265
  • Pages : 340 pages

Download or read book Miracles of Simple People written by Tabor Hermon and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-11-03 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Miracles Of Simple People is a collection of miracles by average people. It is best read in small increments. Actually, that is a plus to many people. You can put it down at any point. It is best to digest a little at a time. Actually, everything in life is. No traditional table of contents, yet a guide to particular stories. We all have miracles. Not claiming anything special. No one is better than anyone else. Miracles are not understood by us, however, it is just another occurrence to God. You will gain a lot of inspiration from these stories. You are not alone! Simple people feel the same in their heart as they act outwardly. Many miracles are what I thought of as uncommon, but are not. An example would be people disappearing. Tumors too. Anything is possible if you remove doubt. Be it so, according to your faith. If you do not believe in God before you read this, you may afterward. There are many things we cannot explain. Atheist point of view is understandable. Many people claim to be Christian, yet act worse than non believers. Regardless, the truth changes for no one. We change all the time, God never changes. Perhaps we think he does, but he knows the outcome of all things. We look at a day, week, or month. God looks at things from an eternal point of view. We should treat every person like they are Jesus. What you do to the least of your brothers, you have done to me. Bible scripture. Not every person in this book is a Christian. Believers feel the bible was inspired by God. Yet all agree it was written by man. No person could conceive all of the things in the bible. Some feel it is a fairytale. What an incredible imagination. Even the word imagine comes from image. We are an image of God. The biggest difficulty is interpretations. There are millions, yet one truth. Not claiming to totally understand God. You cannot understand the infinite from a finite perspective.

Book Miracles Among the Rubble

Download or read book Miracles Among the Rubble written by Carol R. Gray and published by Greg Kofford Books. This book was released on 2020-09-01 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “All those years ago, feeling totally overwhelmed by what I saw of fear and destruction, I turned to the Lord with a yearning I could not understand. Still to this day I do not understand why a dear and loving Heavenly Father prepared the way for me, Carol Gray, an ordinary English wife and mother, to dare to believe that in my small and humble way I could possibly make the difference to a war-wearied country.” Carol Rosemary Gray was a British mother and homemaker of seven children who became a recognized humanitarian leader in Europe and Africa. After receiving the all clear from her first battle with cancer at age 29, she made a promise to her Heavenly Father that she would live every single day to the fullest. This promise was exemplified years later when she began by organizing and transporting relief aid for victims of the Balkan War during the early 1990s, returning more than 34 times in the following nine years. She then went on to found Hugs International TLC, which, through Carol’s efforts, funded the construction and operating of homes, a school, dormitories, a medical center and a sports field in Ghana for the next 10 years. Carol passed away in 2010 at age 66. This volume comprises a selection of heart-wrenching and inspiring experiences told in Carol’s poetically unique style of expression. Her stories are a testament to the extraordinary achievements of an ordinary mother, who was able to do remarkable things with nothing more than unwavering faith, the help and guidance of the Holy Ghost, and her relationship with the Savior.

Book Dreams Ghosts and Miracles

Download or read book Dreams Ghosts and Miracles written by CB Floyd and published by Author House. This book was released on 2009-01-15 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who is CB Floyd? Ayn Rand, in the very first sentence on the very first page of her bestselling novel Atlas Shrugged, asked this now immortal question, “Who is John Galt?” Almost 50 years later, it is my prediction that the world will soon be asking with similar fervor, “Who is CB Floyd?” Well, who is CB Floyd? Poet, musician, composer, author, master repairman, cartoonist, part-time psychic and a master storyteller to boot...I met CB Floyd in high school when I was 15 and he quickly became my best friend. Dreams, Ghosts and Miracles is the first in a series which relates the autobiographical accounting of the amazing life of CB Floyd and I am sure you will find it both fascinatingly interesting and wonderfully inspiring. I’ve read it many, many times now and I love this book completely. His insight into his own problems (and subsequently, the problems of the world) - as told in an amiable and informal manner - is certain to bring you hours of enjoyment and real hope that someone might actually know something about what is going on here on planet Earth. Treat this like an adventure and you won’t be disappointed...and Bon Voyage!
