N. W. Hooens, Resolved, That this Board en tertain a lively sense of the loss, which they, in common with the denomin ation at large, have sustained by this solemn event. Brother Hodges had 'long' sustained the character of a conscientious, laborious, self-denying minister of Jesus Christ. Exemplary for his singular devotedness to the interests of reli gion, and crowned by the Providence of God with an uncommon measure of usefulness, he has gone down to the grave, amidst the deep regrets of many who loved him for his w'ork's sake. He inherits the blessing of those who die in the Lord - he rests from his labors, and his works do follow him! Gri ith, ) read in the same manner the 'evangelists Matthew, Mark and Luke, and the Epis tle to the Romans. This class also has presented compositions once in two weeks. Whenever it could be done, this class (r. Nappier, Robert m'nab, J. Griffith, H. D. Mahony, W. G; Collins, W. F, Missildine and T. Adams, ) recited together, yet their studies have been 50 various, it has been by no mannaia general thing. Their next Meeting will be at the Union Church, Barnwell District, 24 miles below Augusta, on the Saturday before the fourth Lord's Day in November, 1825. Rev. B. S. Scriven to preach the Introductory Sermon; in case of failure, Rev. W. A. Lawton. We have reason to praise G, od for the signal manifestations of his Grace to several of our Churches, as the increase to our Association manifests. Missionary efforts are increasing within our bounds, and the Association have appointed a Board of Managers tosuperintend that important concern, who have engaged a pious and valuable Missionary, to supply the destitute Churches within the bounds of the Association. It is with pleasure we observe the atten tion paid to the improvement and instruction of youth, and that seve ral Sabbath Schools are in happy and successful operation. The Association has recommended the establishment of Tract Societies, auxiliary to the Baptist General Tract Society at Washington.
