Correctly using Minitab's statistical tools is an essential part of good decision making and allows you to achieve your targeted results, while displaying fantastic charts and a powerful analysis will also communicate your results more effectively. "Minitab Cookbook" will take the mystery out of using Minitab and will simplify the steps to produce great results. This book will be hugely beneficial for anyone who knows what statistics or studies they want to run, but who is unsure about just what button to press or what option to select. In this book, you will learn how to use data from different sources and will be guided through the basics of graphs as well as the basics of hypothesis tests. You will explore the use of non-linear regression, how to construct complex ANOVAs, and even delve into Multivariate statistics. "Minitab Cookbook" is a great reference on how to create graphs, generate P-values, and how to put data in order. You will explore the basics of charts as well as into the complex depths of Factor analysis, and you will learn everything from the simplest of t-tests to the complexity of mixed model ANOVA. And finally, for all of you who want to write Macros, this book covers the use of Execs, Global, and Local Macros. What you will learn from this book Import data successfully into Minitab from Excel Explore the options for generating amazing charts Investigate differences between samples with inferential statistics Find the significant relationships in data by analyzing variance and using regression Work with control charts to view process variation Learn about Capability Analysis in Minitab for both normal and non normal data Find trends and seasonality in your data Apply Multivariate statistics to observe patterns and relationships across many variables Automate tasks using the Minitab Macro language Use Gage studies and MSA's to investigate measurement systems Approach This practical cookbook covers a broad range of topics in an easy-to-understand manner. Step-by-step instructions guide you through even the most complicated of tools in Minitab. Who this book is written for This book is great for anyone who is familiar with statistics and who wants to learn how Minitab works. Whilst you do not need to be an expert in all areas of statistics, you should understand the basics of the chapters you are interested in.

Book Statistical Engineering

Download or read book Statistical Engineering written by Stefan H. Steiner and published by Quality Press. This book was released on 2005-01-02 with total page 717 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reducing the variation in process outputs is a key part of process improvement. For mass produced components and assemblies, reducing variation can simultaneously reduce overall cost, improve function and increase customer satisfaction with the product. The authors have structured this book around an algorithm for reducing process variation that they call "Statistical Engineering." The algorithm is designed to solve chronic problems on existing high to medium volume manufacturing and assembly processes. The fundamental basis for the algorithm is the belief that we will discover cost effective changes to the process that will reduce variation if we increase our knowledge of how and why a process behaves as it does. A key way to increase process knowledge is to learn empirically, that is, to learn by observation and experimentation. The authors discuss in detail a framework for planning and analyzing empirical investigations, known by its acronym QPDAC (Question, Plan, Data, Analysis, Conclusion). They classify all effective ways to reduce variation into seven approaches. A unique aspect of the algorithm forces early consideration of the feasibility of each of the approaches. Also includes case studies, chapter exercises, chapter supplements, and six appendices. PRAISE FOR Statistical Engineering "I found this book uniquely refreshing. Don't let the title fool you. The methods described in this book are statistically sound but require very little statistics. If you have ever wanted to solve a problem with statistical certainty (without being a statistician) then this book is for you. - A reader in Dayton, OH "This is the most comprehensive treatment of variation reduction methods and insights I’ve ever seen."- Gary M. Hazard Tellabs "Throughout the text emphasis has been placed on teamwork, fixing the obvious before jumping to advanced studies, and cost of implementation. All this makes the manuscript !attractive for real-life application of complex techniques." - Guru Chadhabr Comcast IP Services COMMENTS FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS Average Customer Rating (5 of 5 based on 1 review) "This is NOT a typical book on statistical tools. It is a strategy book on how to search for cost-effective changes to reduce variation using empirical means (i.e. observation and experiment). The uniqueness of this book: Summarizes the seven ways to reduce variation so we know the goal of the data gathering and analysis, present analysis results using graphs instead of P-value, and integrates Taguchi, Shainin methods, and classical statistical approach. It is a must read for those who are in the business of reducing variation using data, in particular for the Six Sigma Black Belts and Master Black Belts. Don't forget to read the solutions to exercises and supplementary materials to each chapter on the enclosed CD-ROM." - A. Wong, Canada

Book Design of Experiments With Minitab

Download or read book Design of Experiments With Minitab written by Paul G. Mathews and published by Quality Press. This book was released on 2004-07-07 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of the classic DOE books were written before DOE software was generally available, so the technical level that they assumed was that of the engineer or scientist who had to write his or her own analysis software. In this practical introduction to DOE, guided by the capabilities of the common software packages, Paul Mathews presents the basic types and methods of designed experiments appropriate for engineers, scientists, quality engineers, and Six Sigma Black Belts and Master Black Belts. Although instructions in the use of Minitab are detailed enough to provide effective guidance to a new Minitab user, the book is still general enough to be very helpful to users of other DOE software packages. Every chapter contains many examples with detailed solutions including extensive output from Minitab.
