Book Functional Estimation For Density Regression Models And Processes Second Edition

Download or read book Functional Estimation For Density Regression Models And Processes Second Edition written by Odile Pons and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2023-09-22 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonparametric kernel estimators apply to the statistical analysis of independent or dependent sequences of random variables and for samples of continuous or discrete processes. The optimization of these procedures is based on the choice of a bandwidth that minimizes an estimation error and the weak convergence of the estimators is proved. This book introduces new mathematical results on statistical methods for the density and regression functions presented in the mathematical literature and for functions defining more complex models such as the models for the intensity of point processes, for the drift and variance of auto-regressive diffusions and the single-index regression models. This second edition presents minimax properties with Lp risks, for a real p larger than one, and optimal convergence results for new kernel estimators of function defining processes: models for multidimensional variables, periodic intensities, estimators of the distribution functions of censored and truncated variables, estimation in frailty models, estimators for time dependent diffusions, for spatial diffusions and for diffusions with stochastic volatility.

Book Censored Regression Models with Unobserved Stochastic Censoring Thresholds

Download or read book Censored Regression Models with Unobserved Stochastic Censoring Thresholds written by Forrest D. Nelson and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The "Tobit" model is a useful tool for estimation of regression models with a truncated or limited dependent variable, but it requires a threshold which is either a known constant or an observable and independent variable. The model presented here extends the Tobit model to the censored case where the threshold is an unobserved and not necessarily independent random variable. Maximum likelihood procedures can be employed for joint estimation of both the primary regression equation and the parameters of the distribution of that random threshold. The appropriate likelihood function is derived, the conditions necessary for identification are revealed, and the particular estimation difficulties are discussed. The model is illustrated by an application to the determination of a housewife's value of time.

Book Local Polynomial Modelling and Its Applications

Download or read book Local Polynomial Modelling and Its Applications written by Jianqing Fan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-05-02 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data-analytic approaches to regression problems, arising from many scientific disciplines are described in this book. The aim of these nonparametric methods is to relax assumptions on the form of a regression function and to let data search for a suitable function that describes the data well. The use of these nonparametric functions with parametric techniques can yield very powerful data analysis tools. Local polynomial modeling and its applications provides an up-to-date picture on state-of-the-art nonparametric regression techniques. The emphasis of the book is on methodologies rather than on theory, with a particular focus on applications of nonparametric techniques to various statistical problems. High-dimensional data-analytic tools are presented, and the book includes a variety of examples. This will be a valuable reference for research and applied statisticians, and will serve as a textbook for graduate students and others interested in nonparametric regression.
