Book Geology and Mineral Deposits of the Galore Creek Area 104G 3 4

Download or read book Geology and Mineral Deposits of the Galore Creek Area 104G 3 4 written by James Metcalfe Logan and published by Province of British Columbia, Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources. This book was released on 1994 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sphaler Creek and Flood Glacier map areas comprise the Galore Creek area, located within the Coast Mountains between the Stikine River and Mess Creek. The large tonnage Galore Creek alkaline porphyry copper-gold-silver deposit is located within the area mapped. Results of regional mapping and sampling in 1988 are summarized in the report. This report and accompanying maps incorporates new data and revisions to the 1:50 000 geology and mineral occurrence map. The project was conducted to produce detailed geological maps and a database better able to understand the Galore Creek area and aid in making new discoveries.

Book Geology of the Forrest Kerr Mess Creek Area Northwestern British Columbia NTS 104B 10 15 104G 2 7W

Download or read book Geology of the Forrest Kerr Mess Creek Area Northwestern British Columbia NTS 104B 10 15 104G 2 7W written by James Metcalfe Logan and published by Government of British Columbia. This book was released on 2000 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Forrest Kerr-Mess Creek map area straddles the intermontane & coast belt boundary in north-west British Columbia. This report presents results of geological investigations undertaken to produce detailed maps & a database to better understand the geological setting of the area's mineral deposits and to aid in making new mineral discoveries. The introduction includes information on previous geological work in the area and on the regional geology. Chapter 2 describes the stratigraphy of the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and later formations. Chapter 3 covers the area's intrusive rocks, including plutonic suites, dikes, and other intrusions. Chapter 4 discusses geologic structure, including deformational history and faults. The final chapter examines the area's economic geology and includes descriptions of mineral occurrences of four types: porphyry, skarn, sub-volcanic vein, and stratiform.

Book The Stikine Project

Download or read book The Stikine Project written by Derek Anthony Brown and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Stikine project area covers part of a mineral-rich belt near the Alaska panhandle/British Columbia border. The area includes important precious and base metal deposits such as Eskay Creek, and was selected for this study due to its high mineral potential and outdated geological database. This report, the result of four seasons of mapping in the area (1988-91), describes the area's regional tectonic setting and stratigraphy, intrusive rocks, structural geology and metamorphism, and economic geology (types of mineral deposits, timing of regional metallogenic events, isotope geology, exploration activity, mineral potential).

Book Mineralogy and Geochemistry of Gems

Download or read book Mineralogy and Geochemistry of Gems written by Panagiotis Voudouris and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-03-10 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gems have been used in the manufacture of jewellery and as ornaments since antiquity. Considering gems, recent statistics have shown that about 15 billion Euros are annually at stake. Nowadays, gemmology, i.e., the study of gem materials, is one of the most expanding fields in the earth sciences, positioned between academia and industry. As an applied science, in gemmology, the instruments used should be non- or microdestructive, and their cost should be reasonable both in terms of equipment and time consumption. Gemmology can also be used contribute to the development of pure science and in some cases, destructive techniques may have to be used. Taking into account the fact that gems are albeit rarely available for scientific research, this compilation of 20 articles by around 100 researchers from over 30 different institutions situated in 20 countries from around the globe, presented in the Special Issue entitled “Mineralogy and Geochemistry of Gems”, offers very good examples on the application of various methods for their study which will hopefully contribute to our better understanding of gem formation in general and will enhance scientific debates attracting more scientists from various disciplines to get involved in this field.

Book excerpt: This textbook explains how mountains are formed and why there are old and young mountains. It provides a reconstruction of the Earths paleogeography and shows why the shapes of South America and Africa fit so well together. Furthermore, it explains why the Pacific is surrounded by a ring of volcanos and earthquake-prone areas while the edges of the Atlantic are relatively peaceful. This thoroughly revised textbook edition addresses all these questions and more through the presentation and explanation of the geodynamic processes upon which the theory of continental drift is based and which have led to the concept of plate tectonics. It is a source of information for students of geology, geophysics, geography, geosciences in general, general natural sciences, as well as professionals, and interested layman.
