Book Ball Milling Towards Green Synthesis

Download or read book Ball Milling Towards Green Synthesis written by Achim Stolle and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2014-11-26 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ball milling has emerged as a powerful tool over the past few years for effecting chemical reactions by mechanical energy. Allowing a variety of reactions to occur at ambient temperatures and in solvent-free conditions, ball milling presents a greener route for many chemical processes. Compared to the use of microwave and ultrasound as energy sources for chemical reactions, ball milling is not as familiar to chemists and yet it holds great potential. This book will introduce practicing chemists to the technique and will highlight its importance for green transformations. Current applications of ball milling will be covered in detail as well as its origin, recent developments and future scope, challenges and prospects. Chemical transformations covered include carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond formation, oxidation by solid oxidants, asymmetric organo-catalytic reactions, dehydrogenative coupling, peptide syntheses and polymeric material syntheses. The book will provide a valuable guide for organic, inorganic and organometallic chemists, material scientists, polymer scientists, reaction engineers and postgraduate students in chemistry.

Book Environmental Mechanochemistry

Download or read book Environmental Mechanochemistry written by Matej Baláž and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-10-22 with total page 624 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive overview on mechanochemistry including its history, high-energy ball milling process, equipment used and fundamentals behind the observed scientific phenomena. It also shows that mechanochemistry is highly applicable in the field of waste treatment. The text reviews 1017 studies utilizing mostly high-energy ball milling for the treatment of various types of consumer, technogenic and agricultural waste. The text is divided into chapters based on individual waste types. The book presents an Appendix compiling all studies arranged according to the application that the recycled waste is meant for. In this way, readers from both academia and companies interested either in the treatment of a particular waste, or particular application might easily locate sections of interest.

Book Introduction to Solid State Chemistry

Download or read book Introduction to Solid State Chemistry written by James E. House and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2024-03-01 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Solid State Chemistry provides a strong background to the structures of solids and factors that determine this structure. The content presented will also stress transformations of solids both in physical forms and chemical composition. In so doing, topics such as phase transitions, sintering, reactions of coordination compounds, photovoltaic compounds are described, whilst kinetics and mechanisms of solid state reactions are covered in depth. There are currently few books that deal with solid state chemistry, where a considerable number instead deal with solid state physics and materials science/engineering. This book provides someone needing or wishing to learn about the chemistry of solids a comprehensive resource that describes structures of solids, the behaviour of solids under applied stresses, the types of reactions that solids undergo, and the phenomenological aspects of reactions in solids. Kinetics of reactions in solids is very seldom covered in current literature and an understanding of the mechanisms of reactions in solids is necessary for many applications. James E. House provides a balanced treatment of structure, dynamics, and behaviour of solids at a level commensurate with upper-level undergraduates or beginning graduate students who wish to obtain an introduction and overview to solid state chemistry. Provides a?fundamental introduction and entry point to solid state chemistry, acting as a useful prerequisite for further learning in the area Presents a balanced approach that not only emphasizes structures of solids but also provides information on reactions of solids and how they occur Gives much-needed focus to the kinetics of reactions of solids and their mechanisms where existing literature covers little of this Explores crucial solid state chemistry topics such as solar energy conversion, reactions of solid coordination compounds, diffusion, sintering, and other transformations of solids Features accessible and well-written examples and case studies featuring many new and bespoke supporting illustrations, offering an excellent framework that will help students to understand reaction mechanisms

Book Statistical Applications for Chemistry Manufacturing and Controls CMC in the Pharmaceutical Industry

Download or read book Statistical Applications for Chemistry Manufacturing and Controls CMC in the Pharmaceutical Industry written by Richard K. Burdick and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-02-14 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines statistical techniques that are critically important to Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Control (CMC) activities. Statistical methods are presented with a focus on applications unique to the CMC in the pharmaceutical industry. The target audience consists of statisticians and other scientists who are responsible for performing statistical analyses within a CMC environment. Basic statistical concepts are addressed in Chapter 2 followed by applications to specific topics related to development and manufacturing. The mathematical level assumes an elementary understanding of statistical methods. The ability to use Excel or statistical packages such as Minitab, JMP, SAS, or R will provide more value to the reader. The motivation for this book came from an American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) short course on statistical methods applied to CMC applications presented by four of the authors. One of the course participants asked us for a good reference book, and the only book recommended was written over 20 years ago by Chow and Liu (1995). We agreed that a more recent book would serve a need in our industry. Since we began this project, an edited book has been published on the same topic by Zhang (2016). The chapters in Zhang discuss statistical methods for CMC as well as drug discovery and nonclinical development. We believe our book complements Zhang by providing more detailed statistical analyses and examples.
