Book The Politics of Millennials

Download or read book The Politics of Millennials written by Stella M. Rouse and published by University of Michigan Press. This book was released on 2018-08-09 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today the Millennial generation, the cohort born from the early 1980s to the late 1990s, is the largest generation in the United States. It exceeds one-quarter of the population and is the most diverse generation in U.S. history. Millennials grew up experiencing September 11, the global proliferation of the Internet and of smart phones, and the worst economic recession since the Great Depression of the 1930s. Their young adulthood has been marked by rates of unemployment and underemployment surpassing those of their parents and grandparents, making them the first generation in the modern era to have higher rates of poverty than their predecessors at the same age. The Politics of Millennials explores the factors that shape the Millennial generation’s unique political identity, how this identity conditions political choices, and how this cohort’s diversity informs political attitudes and beliefs. Few scholars have empirically identified and studied the political attitudes and policy preferences of Millennials, despite the size and influence of this generation. This book explores politics from a generational perspective, first, and then combines this with other group identities that include race and ethnicity to bring a new perspective to how we examine identity politics.

Book Millennial Common Sense The Philosophy of Liberty and The Cure for Life

Download or read book Millennial Common Sense The Philosophy of Liberty and The Cure for Life written by Jeremy Robert Walker and published by . This book was released on 2020-01-05 with total page 814 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Philosophy of Liberty is the highest planetary debate. America is an idea before a state. Truth animates imagination, governs liberty, preserves God's kingdom of life and property on the earth, and defends the gospel of Jesus Christ: the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, my savior, chain-breaker, and Prince of Peace authoring Liberty and governing Death. The enemy seek and destroy what could be; the new Atlantis. Can destiny vanish? How can time amplify season? Does the holy spirit favor reason? Why do men risk their fortune? Must one fear God or man? What if a society sabotage the pursuit of happiness? God molds the men that answer His call to be the defense of, by, and for the people of His kingdom. Honesty treads down the blight of hell. Duty and reverence toward the defense of human liberty establish true civilizational nobility and declare safety to the mankind held captive to the yoke of envy and greed. Perhaps adversity and composure motion for the moral and resilient to keep safe with the love and wisdom of Heaven's instructive understanding. What if Heaven transcends awareness; manifests destiny; seizes that life without slavery; goes home to the promise land; envision the illumination of God? Raising the standard to God razes the pirates. Where goes the heart when the lands go awash? What happens to one's spirit when one can no longer be water or manifest wind? Verily, the heart does not suffer the mind.

Book Thumbelina

Download or read book Thumbelina written by Michel Serres and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2014-10-20 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The title of this timely and thought-provoking book, a French bestseller, refers to schoolgirls sending text messages to their friends on their smart phones. Michel Serres, one of France's most important living intellectuals, uses this image to get at something far broader: that humans are formed and shaped by technologies, and that with the advent of computers, smart phones, and the Internet, a new human is being born. These new humans beings are our children—thumbelina (petite poucette) and tom thumb (petit poucet)—but technologies have been changing so fast that parents scarcely know their children. Serres documents this cultural revolution, arguing that there have been several similar revolutions in the past: from oral cultures to cultures focused on reading and writing; the advent of the printing press; and now the complex changes brought about by the new information technologies—changes that are taking place at an accelerated pace and that affect us all.

Book Millennial Philosopher

  • Author : Vaibhav Chopra

Download or read book Millennial Philosopher written by Vaibhav Chopra and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2019-02-04 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Come for the philosophy, stay for the dick jokes."Young and confused? This one's for you. If Socrates or Confucius were millennials, how would they perceive the world? What kind of solutions would they provide to the problems that trouble our youngsters? "Can money buy other forms of happiness too if it can buy weed?""Can aliens watch me masturbate?""Will there be a third World War if chocolates go extinct?""If I like having sex, should I try my luck in the porn industry?"If you any of the above questions, first of all "You're weird" and second of all, you have come to the right place. In his book, Vaibhav Chopra, a millennial himself, attempts to answer these questions with a sense of humour that requires a facial pimple density greater than five per square decimetres, both to write and understand, He explains what's going on in his mind and his stand on different arguments in classic youngster lingo, where decency and politeness get thrown under the bus to make room for pure awesomeness. Coming from a generation that can change its feeling and philosophies by the click of a button on their smartphones, Vaibhav examines humans and the things they do in a way that's "not polite to the pronoun" if you know what we mean. Even the author isn't free from the bipolarity that comes with pubic hair to the teenagers. At one moment, he makes you feel like you are the worst person in this world and the next, you will feel like the stars "ain't got nothin' on ya" when it comes to shining. Atheism, existentialism, nihilism, and even reality itself is questioned. Nothing is off-limits. Either you'll rip your hair out in frustration, or you'll be amazed enough to run on the streets naked shouting- "Eureka! I've found it."To contact the author, use: [email protected] ( because [email protected] was already taken)

The contributors address how millennials' academic and non-academic interests and everyday performances within and outside of higher education influence how faculty and staff communicate with them. This book delves into how millennials can become more adaptable in their communication with others in society especially in higher education, be it from different generations, or cultures that may or may not communicate the way they do. The contributors argue that millennial culture should be carefully studied by instructors, researchers, and administrators to create a better classroom and educational experience and also improve the level of communication among these constituencies.

Book The Next Mormons

  • Author : Jana Riess
  • Publisher : Oxford University Press

Download or read book The Next Mormons written by Jana Riess and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2019-02-01 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: American Millennials--the generation born in the 1980s and 1990s--have been leaving organized religion in unprecedented numbers. For a long time, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was an exception: nearly three-quarters of people who grew up Mormon stayed that way into adulthood. In The Next Mormons, Jana Riess demonstrates that things are starting to change. Drawing on a large-scale national study of four generations of current and former Mormons as well as dozens of in-depth personal interviews, Riess explores the religious beliefs and behaviors of young adult Mormons, finding that while their levels of belief remain strong, their institutional loyalties are less certain than their parents' and grandparents'. For a growing number of Millennials, the tensions between the Church's conservative ideals and their generation's commitment to individualism and pluralism prove too high, causing them to leave the faith-often experiencing deep personal anguish in the process. Those who remain within the fold are attempting to carefully balance the Church's strong emphasis on the traditional family with their generation's more inclusive definition that celebrates same-sex couples and women's equality. Mormon families are changing too. More Mormons are remaining single, parents are having fewer children, and more women are working outside the home than a generation ago. The Next Mormons offers a portrait of a generation navigating between traditional religion and a rapidly changing culture.

You will learn how to become the Creator of your own reality. You will learn to become the Creator Creating Itself. And thus, you will learn exactly how to succeed in anything you wish to do.This is not a Religion, or a Cult, or anything like that. This philosophy is agreeable with all Religions and Cultures. Book excerpt: NATIONAL BESTSELLER • Discover the game-changing theory of the cycles of history and what past generations can teach us about living through times of upheaval—with deep insights into the roles that Boomers, Generation X, and Millennials have to play—now with a new preface by Neil Howe. First comes a High, a period of confident expansion. Next comes an Awakening, a time of spiritual exploration and rebellion. Then comes an Unraveling, in which individualism triumphs over crumbling institutions. Last comes a Crisis—the Fourth Turning—when society passes through a great and perilous gate in history. William Strauss and Neil Howe will change the way you see the world—and your place in it. With blazing originality, The Fourth Turning illuminates the past, explains the present, and reimagines the future. Most remarkably, it offers an utterly persuasive prophecy about how America’s past will predict what comes next. Strauss and Howe base this vision on a provocative theory of American history. The authors look back five hundred years and uncover a distinct pattern: Modern history moves in cycles, each one lasting about the length of a long human life, each composed of four twenty-year eras—or “turnings”—that comprise history’s seasonal rhythm of growth, maturation, entropy, and rebirth. Illustrating this cycle through a brilliant analysis of the post–World War II period, The Fourth Turning offers bold predictions about how all of us can prepare, individually and collectively, for this rendezvous with destiny.
