Book excerpt: Must think happy thoughts. Julie Andrews dancing. Cadbury's chocolate Easter eggs. But no amount of positive thinking changes the fact that Jeremy—the man of my dreams, the man I would marry, the man who should spend his whole life worshipping me and lavishing me with kisses—went to Thailand to find himself. Obviously I'm not as cute and witty as I thought I was, since while I've been sitting around every weekend, he's been sleeping with half of Thailand. And then he found Someone Else. That someone not being me. I have been pathetic. But now I will date. I will become the queen of dating. I will forget all about him. Single in Boston, that's me. But not for long…!

Book excerpt: Are your warehouses full while production is stopped by shortages? Do your customers complain that your lead times are too long and deliveries too late? Lean Logistics: The Nuts and Bolts of Delivering Materials and Goods by Michel Baudin helps you determine whether you have the right supply to meet your customers’ demands, as well as the ability to organize and deliver that supply. In this cutting edge work, Baudin addresses the physical infrastructure of lean logistics and the flow of information that composes its nervous system. He demonstrates the methods that will allow you to avoid shortages while maintaining low inventories, while showing you how to take advantage of the increased capacity and flexibility generated through lean manufacturing. Book Discrete Time Analysis of Consolidated Transport Processes

Download or read book Discrete Time Analysis of Consolidated Transport Processes written by Eda Özden and published by KIT Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2014-06-04 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this work is to develop models for the analysis of consolidated transport processes. With the discrete time queuing models developed for inventory and vehicle consolidation, in particular milkrun systems, a detailed performance evaluation of different design scenarios can be conducted faster than with simulation. Moreover, it is demonstrated how the models can be connected with each other in form of a network analysis, in order to analyze hub-and-spoke networks.

Book Performance analysis of stochastic flow lines with limited material supply

Download or read book Performance analysis of stochastic flow lines with limited material supply written by Julia Mindlina and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2019-03-14 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In order to improve the performance of production systems, companies consider the optimization of the flow line configuration. However, the material supply of the flow line exerts a strong influence on the output of the production system since material shortages impede the flow of workpieces through the flow line. Simultaneously, the configuration of the flow line determines the demand for material. Consequently, the mutual interdependence between the material supply and the flow line has to be considered in order to balance a sufficient material supply of the flow line avoiding material shortages as well as excessive material inventory and handling effort. We provide integrated approaches for the evaluation and optimization of stochastic flow lines with limited material supply. Thereby, we make use of several evaluation methods as Markov chain approaches, aggregation and decomposition approaches as well as linear programming. Further, we model open and closed queuing networks in continuous and discrete time. Hence, we present exact and approximate approaches that allow us to study the effects in several stochastic production systems with limited material supply.

Book Milk Run

Download or read book Milk Run written by William E. Heichel and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-10-26 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Milk Run: A Gunner's Tale is the true story of William E. Heichel and his experiences flying with the crew of a B-26 Martin Marauder in World War II Europe, primarily as waist gunner and radio operator. Written in a casual style reminiscent of a journal, the story draws heavily from the author's combat experience and seeks to tell the story of life in the U.S. Air Corps without getting heavily into technical information. Several soldiers served as inspiration in discussing army life. In particular, throughout the book several references are made to George Hajek of Capone's south side neighborhood in Chicago (and his many roles on Sunday night's Lux Radio Theater) and Henry Hank Isenberg of Dorchester, Massachusetts. The author regarded these two men as the best friends of his entire life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With ample humor and humility, Europe by Milk Run uncovers Europe's greatest treasures. When an acquaintance of author Rory Moulton declares that traveling Europe "isn't real travel," Rory sets out to prove him wrong. In this hilarious and gripping solo travel memoir, the author rides slow trains, explores off-beat neighborhoods and attractions, eats at restaurants so lost in time he's amazed they know when to open and befriends unforgettable characters, some of whom actually like him. Rory embarks with little more than a backpack, Eurail Pass and a vague notion of which direction he should be traveling. Along the way, he: repels a cat invasion in Amsterdam, loses all his money and documents, witnesses a magical sunset in a ruined church, meets WWII-doubting Kiwis, investigates a haunted Spanish prison, explores Europe's most beautiful, albeit abandoned, train station and much more... Europe by Milk Run shows that traveling Europe at ground level reveals the Continent's greatest treasures.
