Book Italian Game and Evans Gambit

Download or read book Italian Game and Evans Gambit written by Jan Pinski and published by Everyman Chess. This book was released on 2020-12-21 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Italian Game (sometimes referred to as the Giuoco Piano) is one of the oldest openings around, and also one of the first lines a player learns when he or she is introduced to chess. It leads to play that is easy to understand: both sides develop their pieces logically and begin attacks on the opposing kings. The Italian Game gives both White and Black the opportunity to play either aggressively and in gambit fashion, or in a restrained and positional manner. One of White's most exciting and attacking options is the legendary Evans Gambit, which has been brought back into the limelight in this modern era by such uncompromising players as World number one Garry Kasparov, Alexander Morozevich and England's Nigel Short. In this book, openings expert Jan Pinski investigates the different strategies and tactics in the Italian Game and Evans Gambit. Using model games for both White and Black, Pinski provides crucial coverage of both the main lines and offbeat variations. This book arms the reader with enough knowledge to play the Italian Game and Evans Gambit with confidence. * Written by well known opening theoretician * A useful guide for club and tournament players alike * All main lines are covered

Book Organizational Commitment in the Military

Download or read book Organizational Commitment in the Military written by Paul A. Gade and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2017-10-23 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most military researchers who have attempted to measure organizational commitment have done so on an ad hoc basis, preferring to invent new items and scales rather than incorporate well-established measures. The purpose of this special issue is to reverse this trend by bringing military organizational commitment research into the scientific mainstream and to do so in ways that will prove useful to military services while advancing organizational commitment theory and knowledge. This special issue grew out of a symposium conducted at the 1998 American Psychological Association Convention that arose when many in the field recognized the practical importance of measuring organizational commitment while maintaining a healthy concern for ensuring that this measurement was well-grounded in organizational commitment theory. Taken together, the articles in this issue demonstrate the concepts of affective and continuance commitment and their underlying measures by using them in different military samples and under a variety operational conditions.

Book Dynamic Power Supply Transmitters

Download or read book Dynamic Power Supply Transmitters written by Earl McCune and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2015-05-21 with total page 495 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Power is dissipated (lost) when this current flows through any resistance, which includes the amplifier's transistor. This dissipated power is the product of the current in the load times the voltage difference between the supply voltage to the amplifier and the output signal voltage. When the voltage supplied to the amplifier is a constant value, and by far the most common design practice, the situation in Fig. 1-2a results. Power dissipation in the amplifier is maximum when the output signal voltage is 1/2 of the supply voltage. When the output signal voltage is higher, even though the current value is larger the voltage drop is less and the power dissipation is lower. Similarly, when the output signal voltage is small, even though the voltage drop is now large the current in the load is smaller and again the power dissipation is lower"--

Book The R ti Move by Move

Download or read book The R ti Move by Move written by Sam Collins and published by Everyman Chess. This book was released on 2020-10-01 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines what might be described as the “pure” Réti Opening. White starts with 1 Nf3 and intends to meet 1...d5 with the “Réti” response 2 c4. One of the major advantages of playing these systems is that they rely far more on general strategic understanding than rote memorisation. However, this does not mean that Black is not set difficult problems to solve. In the modern era these lines have mainly been championed by Vladimir Kramnik and Lev Aronian. Both these players have frequently set very difficult problems for their elite opponents with these complex systems. This series provides an ideal platform to study chess openings. By continually challenging the reader to answer probing questions throughout the book, the Move by Move format greatly encourages the learning and practising of vital skills just as much as the traditional assimilation of opening knowledge. Carefully selected questions and answers are designed to keep you actively involved and allow you to monitor your progress as you learn. This is an excellent way to study any chess opening and at the same time improve your general chess skills and knowledge. * Essential guidance and training in the Réti Opening * Analyses all key variations * Utilizes an ideal Q+A approach to chess study

Book excerpt: Sociology and Hip Hop: An Anthology provides students with a carefully curated selection of articles that explore human behavior and society through a variety of scholarly lenses crafted by hip hop-influenced academics. The anthology acknowledges the influence of hip hop on pop culture through music, fashion, dance, art, and more, and demonstrates how sociologists can better explain their work and research through hip hop. The anthology is organized into four distinct parts. The readings in Part I confront stereotypes generally associated with hip hop and provide readers with a greater understanding of the international impact and relevance of hip hop. Part II includes articles that demonstrate the ways in which hip hop culture and art are practiced in countries outside of the United States. In Part III, students read about the participation of women and members of the LGBTQ community in hip hop. The final part of the anthology speaks to hip hop as resistance and features readings that underscore the use of hip hop in contemporary social movements and activism. Designed to help readers understand the usefulness of hip hop within the discipline, Sociology and Hip Hop is an ideal resource for courses and programs in sociology. Earl Wright II is a professor of sociology at Rhodes College. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska.
