Book Chua s Circuit A Paradigm For Chaos

Download or read book Chua s Circuit A Paradigm For Chaos written by Rabinder N Madan and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1993-11-20 with total page 1089 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For uninitiated researchers, engineers, and scientists interested in a quick entry into the subject of chaos, this book offers a timely collection of 55 carefully selected papers covering almost every aspect of this subject. Because Chua's circuit is endowed with virtually every bifurcation phenomena reported in the extensive literature on chaos, and because it is the only chaotic system which can be easily built by a novice, simulated in a personal computer, and tractable mathematically, it has become a paradigm for chaos, and a vehicle for illustrating this ubiquitous phenomenon. Its supreme simplicity and robustness has made it the circuit of choice for generating chaotic signals for practical applications. In addition to the 48 illuminating papers drawn from a recent two-part Special Issue (March and June, 1993) of the Journal of Circuits, Systems, and Computers devoted exclusively to Chua's circuit, several highly illustrative tutorials and incisive state-of-the-art reviews on the latest experimental, computational, and analytical investigations on chaos are also included. To enhance its pedagogical value, a diskette containing a user-friendly software and data base on many basic chaotic phenomena is attached to the book, as well as a gallery of stunningly colorful strange attractors.Beginning with an elementary (freshman-level physics) introduction on experimental chaos, the book presents a step-by-step guided tour, with papers of increasing complexity, which covers almost every conceivable aspects of bifurcation and chaos. The second half of the book contains many original materials contributed by world-renowned authorities on chaos, including L P Shil'nikov, A N Sharkovsky, M Misiurewicz, A I Mees, R Lozi, L O Chua and V S Afraimovich. The scope of topics covered is quite comprehensive, including at least one paper on each of the following topics: routes to chaos, 1-D maps, universality, self-similarity, 2-parameter renormalization group analysis, piecewise-linear dynamics, slow-fast dynamics, confinor analysis, symmetry breaking, strange attractors, basins of attraction, geometric invariants, time-series reconstruction, Lyapunov exponents, bispectral analysis, homoclinic bifurcation, stochastic resonance, synchronization, and control of chaos, as well as several novel applications of chaos, including secure communications, visual sensing, neural networks, dry turbulence, nonlinear waves and music.

Book Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems CHES 2004

Download or read book Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems CHES 2004 written by Marc Joye and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-07-08 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These are the proceedings of CHES 2004, the 6th Workshop on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems. For the first time, the CHES Workshop was sponsored by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR). This year, the number of submissions reached a new record. One hundred and twenty-five papers were submitted, of which 32 were selected for presentation. Each submitted paper was reviewed by at least 3 members of the program committee. We are very grateful to the program committee for their hard and efficient work in assembling the program. We are also grateful to the 108 external referees who helped in the review process in their area of expertise. In addition to the submitted contributions, the program included three - invited talks, by Neil Gershenfeld (Center for Bits and Atoms, MIT) about "Physical Information Security", by Isaac Chuang (Medialab, MIT) about "Quantum Cryptography", and by Paul Kocher (Cryptography Research) about "Phy- cal Attacks". It also included a rump session, chaired by Christof Paar, which featured informal talks on recent results. As in the previous years, the workshop focused on all aspects of cryptographic hardware and embedded system security. We sincerely hope that the CHES Workshop series will remain a premium forum for intellectual exchange in this area

Book Adaptive Antennas and Receivers

Download or read book Adaptive Antennas and Receivers written by Melvin M. Weiner and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 1240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In our modern age of remote sensing, wireless communication, and the nearly endless list of other antenna-based applications, complex problems require increasingly sophisticated solutions. Conventional antenna systems are no longer suited to high-noise or low-signal applications such as intrusion detection. Detailing highly effective approaches to non-Gaussian weak signal detection, Adaptive Antennas and Receivers provides an authoritative introduction to state-of-the-art research on the modeling, testing, and application of these technologies. Edited by innovative researcher and eminent expert Melvin M. Weiner, this book is the first to integrate three advanced approaches to non-Gaussian weak signal detection into a single reference: homogeneous partitioning of the surveillance volume, adaptive antennas, and adaptive receivers. Comprising self-contained chapters contributed by renowned experts such as Donald D. Weiner and Ronald Fante, each chapter explores the techniques, theoretical basis, and applications of the approach under discussion. The book considers signal detection in the presence of external noise such as clutter residue, interference, atmospheric noise, jammers, external thermal noise, in vivo surrounding tissue, and camouflaging material, making it ideal for use across a broad spectrum of applications. This authoritative reference supplies more than 750 figures and tables, 1460 equations, and 640 references. Adaptive Antennas and Receivers is an ideal resource for improving performance in surveillance, communication, navigation, artificial intelligence, computer tomography, neuroscience, and intrusion detection systems, to name only a few.
