Book excerpt: …and then, we belonged to the irregular galaxy. As we continue to fall deeper into the digital ditch, human touch seems to be fading away like water drops on a heated pan. Given the future fast approaching machine interactions, the need to hold on to the feeling of owning basics and feeling their significance from within is rising at an alarming rate. Enter DOTS. Experience the realistic side of anthology crafted with an honest effort to bring out profound meanings from day-to-day things and embed their messages deep into our subconscious mind. The poems you are about to read aren’t penned down to preach but to mirror our environment in its absolute crude form through symbolism. As you flip through the pages, you will realize how each simple object tries to whisper something to us but we are often too caught up in the noisy world. Finally, the rules of punctuation and capitalization are intentionally broken to amplify the unconventional attributes of the poems. Welcome to a fresh and unique style of object poetry, where chaos will find order through you, and eventually, everything will connect.

Book Burning the Midnight Oil

  • Publisher : Cleis Press
  • Release : 2013-12-17

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Burning the Midnight Oil, word-wrangler extraordinaire Phil Cousineau has gathered an eclectic and electric collection of soulful poems and prose from great thinkers throughout the ages. Whether beguiling readers with glorious poetry or consoling them with prayers from fellow restless souls, Cousineau can relieve any insomniac's unease. From St. John of the Cross to Annie Dillard, Beethoven to The Song of Songs, this refreshingly insightful anthology soothes and inspires all who struggle through the dark of the night. These "night thoughts" vividly illustrate Alfred North Whitehead's liberating description of "what we do without solitude" and also evoke Henry David Thoreau's reverie, "Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake." The night writers in Cousineau's vesperal collection range from saints, poets, and shamans to astronomers and naturalists, and tells of ancient tales and shining passages from the most brilliant (albeit insomniac) writers of today. These poetic ponderances sing of the falling darkness, revel in dream-time, convey the ache of melancholy, conspire against sleeplessness, vanquish loneliness, contemplate the night sky, rhapsodize on love, and languorously greet the first rays of dawn. Notable night owls include Rabandranath Tagore, Mary Oliver, Manley Hopkins, Jorge Borges and William Blake.

Book Jimi Hendrix on track

    Book Details:
  • Author : Emma Stott
  • Publisher : Sonicbond Publishing Ltd
  • Release : 2022-08-12
  • ISBN : 1789522102
  • Pages : 212 pages

Download or read book Jimi Hendrix on track written by Emma Stott and published by Sonicbond Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2022-08-12 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The legendary Jimi Hendrix has had all kinds of superlatives bestowed on him since his incendiary debut in 1966, but Lou Reed’s pithy summation beats the lot: ‘...he was such a bitching guitar player’. Jimi Hendrix On Track explores each thrilling song and album, drawing out exactly what made Hendrix not only a great guitarist but also a vocalist, arranger, interpreter, producer and songwriter of genius. Hendrix’s revolutionary albums with The Experience and Band of Gypsys are discussed in detail, as are his posthumous releases from First Rays of the Rising Sun to Both Sides of the Sky. His early work as a session player for acts like The Isley Brothers, Little Richard and even Jayne Mansfield is considered, along with his later work as a guest star on albums by Stephen Stills, Robert Wyatt, and McGear and McGough, and not forgetting his blistering work as a producer for Eire Apparent. From psychedelic odysseys to progressive blues to proto-metal to funk-rock, Hendrix mastered them all. Jimi Hendrix On Track is an informative guide to some of the 20th century’s most extraordinary recordings. Emma Stott missed out on the 1960s and the 1970s and she still isn’t over it, so writing about the greatest decades in rock music helps with her loss. She also writes about literature and education, being an English teacher by day in Manchester, UK, where she forbids any ‘dark sarcasm’ in her classroom.

Book Words from the Music Room

Download or read book Words from the Music Room written by Stuart Favill and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2014-01-08 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stuart Favill and I share the same birthday and year of birth, Im not sure if we share the same minute, but we do both share a love of poetry and music and our influences are very similar. Its probably why I find it so easy to relate to his words, because we come from the same world at the same time. His words are clear and concise, never wandering on aimlessly, like so many peoples lives. We have both also worked in areas with the most vulnerable of society and poems of his, such as Cutting, really reach the heart with their frank and direct observations. Stuart has a way of communicating without pretence some very powerful feelings and observations on life and can make extremely valid points. Yet he still maintains a sense of humour that manifests itself at many a lingual turn. We are aware of the social and family issues dealt with in poems like The Devil In The Corner, and Stuart makes clear the dangers of that little box that I am now writing on! In the Rite Of Passage, he shares with unashamed honesty the feelings he had when his mother passed away, and that is, I think, the root of Stuarts poetical strength, his honesty, even when it may be uncomfortable. In this collection, there is a poem which everyone should be able to relate to, if not many, a moving and entertaining view of life from Stuart Favills eyeline. Tony Stringfellow. Tony Stringfellow is an accomplished artist, sculptor, performer, poet and author. His works include the acclaimed book, The Wizards Gown a study of the lyrics of Marc Bolan, (T.Rex) and Silent Solitudes, a collection of thought provoking poetry.
