Book Microlaser Array Development

Download or read book Microlaser Array Development written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes the design, construction and characterization of a 2 dimensional micro laser array. The micro laser array consists of a monolithic pump array, microlenses, and a solid state gain module. Passive q-switching on a single element was also demonstrated on this program. The array produced 0.35 Watts of average power with an optical efficiency of 5.8%. 70 elements out of the 108 total elements were lasing and the best elements were lasing at 2 microJ energy per pulse and with 12% optical efficiency. The diode array pump was a TRW built, high power surface emitting array, HPSEA, device cooled by a TRW built micro channel heat exchanger. The gain material was 400 micron thick Nd:YVO4 and the output wavelength was 1.064 microns. The far field divergence of the entire array was 10.4 mrad and 3.5 mrad for a single element. Each of the elements in the array operated single longitudinal and single transverse mode. The frequency variation over the entire array was 43 GHz and was due to individual variations in cavity lengths.

Book Center of Excellence

Download or read book Center of Excellence written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Center-of-Excellence grant has two components: Development of an imaging, system based on microlaser arrays forms a central project among a group of laser diagnostic and therapeutic efforts primarily funded outside the grant. In year 2 we have dealt with the slow delivery of new microlaser array approach to the idea of all-solid-state confocal microscopy. One solution was moderately successful, and another has produced the first microscope that is electronically switchable from confocal to non-confocal. We think this may be a useful alternative to the final design. This report thus discloses patentable material. We describe first the central Microlaser Microscope project, then we will tough briefly on the other projects of the Center. Publications are primarily those of the smaller projects, though no longer exclusively so. The appendix includes some of the publications.

Book Analysis and Development of Dynamic Selection of Laser Array Elements

Download or read book Analysis and Development of Dynamic Selection of Laser Array Elements written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-08-16 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The transmission of large amounts of power in space by laser beam (diode lasers, in particular) requires an array of lasers to increase total power. Concentration of the beam requires some degree of coherence. Temporal coherence can be obtained by locking amplifiers to a master oscillator. However, spatial coherence is not so easily created or maintained. Many mechanical, thermal, and electrical factors oppose it continually. A very simple method is described for creating and maintaining a degree of spatial coherence by simply turning selected diodes ON or OFF. The degree of coherence can be chosen; the greater the coherence, the larger is the number of lasers required for a given power and the longer the lifetime of the array. An experiment for analyzing performance, verifying theory, and evaluating critical parameters is also proposed. Williams, M. D. Book Recent Advances in Nanofabrication Techniques and Applications

Download or read book Recent Advances in Nanofabrication Techniques and Applications written by Bo Cui and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2011-12-02 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nanotechnology has experienced a rapid growth in the past decade, largely owing to the rapid advances in nanofabrication techniques employed to fabricate nano-devices. Nanofabrication can be divided into two categories: "bottom up" approach using chemical synthesis or self assembly, and "top down" approach using nanolithography, thin film deposition and etching techniques. Both topics are covered, though with a focus on the second category. This book contains twenty nine chapters and aims to provide the fundamentals and recent advances of nanofabrication techniques, as well as its device applications. Most chapters focus on in-depth studies of a particular research field, and are thus targeted for researchers, though some chapters focus on the basics of lithographic techniques accessible for upper year undergraduate students. Divided into five parts, this book covers electron beam, focused ion beam, nanoimprint, deep and extreme UV, X-ray, scanning probe, interference, two-photon, and nanosphere lithography.
