Book Microcomputers for Process Control

Download or read book Microcomputers for Process Control written by R. C. Holland and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microcomputers for Process Control provides an introduction to microprocessor technology for process monitoring and control. The book begins with an overview of microprocessor applications in areas such as consumer products, factories, and telecommunications. This is followed by separate chapters that discuss microcomputer technology; electrical interface to enable plant monitoring and control by microcomputer; microcomputer system hardware and software; VDU-based plant monitoring systems; and methods of computer control. This book is aimed at practicing engineers in industry who wish to acquire a base of understanding of this technology and also to learn how microcomputers can actually be applied in real plant situations. Considerable emphasis is given to plant measurements, interfacing techniques and applications of microcomputers for plant monitoring and control. No prior knowledge of microprocessor technology is assumed, but some awareness of plant measurement and control problems will assist the reader. Students undertaking engineering courses which include microelectronics or process control studies should also find the text helpful.

Book Microcomputers in Early Childhood Education

Download or read book Microcomputers in Early Childhood Education written by John T. Pardeck and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-02-04 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1989, this book differed from others on the topic of microcomputers and education at the time, in that it focuses on the influence that microcomputer technology has on children in their early years, specially pre-school and elementary ages. Microcomputers have the capacity to do great harm as well as good and a full explanation of the technical and philosophical issues involved will be of interest to a number of disciplines. Other topics explored are – the potential uses of microcomputer-technology in early childhood education and current research and theory building on microcomputers and early education. This book should be read by teachers, sociologists, psychologists and researchers in education.

Book A Model of Freshman Use of Microcomputers Related to Intellectual and Social Development

Download or read book A Model of Freshman Use of Microcomputers Related to Intellectual and Social Development written by Daniel Richards Judd and published by Universal-Publishers. This book was released on 2002-08-06 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between freshmen's use of microcomputers and their social and intellectual development in a university environment. A review of related literature describes the theoretical foundation of this research and identifies questionnaire items for measuring the critical variables of microcomputer use and student development. To conduct the study, data obtained from 400 freshman students prior to entering Utah State University (USU) in the fall of 1996 were compared to data collected from the same students during Spring Quarter of 1997. Correlational analysis was used to study changes in freshman students' use of microcomputers and variables known to predict studentsÍ social and academic integration into the institution. Regression analyses were used to identify variables and dimensions of microcomputer use that contributed to and detracted from students' intellectual and social development. (268 pages)

Book Microcomputers and Laboratory Instrumentation

Download or read book Microcomputers and Laboratory Instrumentation written by David J. Malcolme-Lawes and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The invention of the microcomputer in the mid-1970s and its subsequent low-cost proliferation has opened up a new world for the laboratory scientist. Tedious data collection can now be automated relatively cheaply and with an enormous increase in reliability. New techniques of measurement are accessible with the "intelligent" instrumentation made possible by these programmable devices, and the ease of use of even standard measurement techniques may be improved by the data processing capabilities of the humblest micro. The latest items of commercial laboratory instrumentation are invariably "computer controlled", although this is more likely to mean that a microprocessor is involved than that a versatile microcomputer is provided along with the instrument. It is clear that all scientists of the future will need some knowledge of computers, if only to aid them in mastering the button pushing associated with gleaming new instruments. However, to be able to exploit this newly accessible computing power to the full the practising laboratory scientist must gain sufficient understanding to utilise the communication channels between apparatus on the laboratory bench and program within the computer.
