Successivamente per ognuna delle riviste è stata compilata per ognuna di esse una "scheda identificativa" che ne riassume i principali dati anagrafici (anni di pubblicazione; tipo di uscita; direttore/i; membri del comitato scientifico; redazione; casa editrice; ISSN; sito web, il lavoro è quindi passato al censimento di tutti gli articoli che, dal dopoguerra ad oggi (1945- 2022), hanno trattato il restauro architettonico nelle sue diverse declinazioni ed evoluzioni. Il conseguente regesto – ordinato cronologicamente per ognuna delle riviste censite, riportando autore/i, titolo e collocazione dell'articolo – è stato elaborato ricercando nei titoli alcune parole chiave (patrimonio culturale; patrimonio architettonico; monumento; restauro; conservazione; valorizzazione; diagnostica; tutela; paesaggio; stratigrafia architettonica; centro storico; borghi; consolidamento; restauro statico; miglioramento sismico; miglioramento energetico; puliture; etc.), necessarie all'individuazione dei vari contributi. I risultati così ottenuti sono stati, a loro volta, analizzati quantitativamente sulla base di alcuni parametri tematici, per suddividere gli articoli in funzione degli argomenti trattati, in modo da ottenere un quadro, cronologicamente impostato e quantitativamente differenziato, delle tipologie delle tematiche affrontate, suddivise in: analisi scientifiche, diagnostica e approfondimenti tecnico-operativi; storia del restauro; teoria del restauro; strategie di valorizzazione; tecniche e strategie di valutazione. Il quadro così ottenuto ha consentito di valutare le modalità che hanno contrassegnato l'evoluzione dell'editoria di settore nel periodo considerato, mettendone in luce alcune caratteristiche di merito.

Il saggio vuole indagare i diversi criteri e modi di intervento, non per sostenere la validità di un metodo rispetto a un altro, ma per esaminarne i principi interni di strutturazione. Le esperienze acquisite possano tutte ricondursi a tre precise direttive e finalità d’intervento: a) operare sul piano delle regole della stessa opera su cui si interviene; b) esibire la distinzione fra segni del passato e del presente, anche rinunciando a qualsiasi forma di compromissione con la materia costruita per garantirne l’autenticità; c) agire in ossequio alla forma architettonica, in veste di immagine e confronto fra i linguaggi del passato e quelli del presente. Vengono prospettate le antitesi, i contrasti, le contraddizioni, le affinità problematiche e le prospettive metodologiche compatibili e sostenibili, in un taglio decisamente analitico, tendente a chiarire i termini dei vari problemi, più che a risolverli.

As the most complete site in the Roman Forum that has reached our times with a rich architectural stratification almost intact, it is a clear product of continuous preservation and transformation and it has not been studied in its complexity until now. The Temple of Venus and Rome and Santa Francesca Romana at the Roman Forum unravels the original designs and the subsequent interventions, including Giacomo Boni’s pioneering conservation of the monastery, carried out while excavating the Roman Forum in the early twentieth century. The projects are discussed in context to show their significance and the relationships between architects and patrons. Through its interdisciplinary focus on architectural design, conservation, archaeology, history and construction, this study is an ideal example for scholars, students and architects of how to carry out research in architectural conservation.

È il periodo interrotto dalla prematura scomparsa che non ha dato modo di valorizzare e sistematizzare a pieno un vasto patrimonio di idee e conoscenze che ancora oggi, al di là della ristretta cerchia degli addetti ai lavori, non è conosciuto come meriterebbe nei contenuti e nel metodo.
