Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Methods of Teaching Primary Grades: Course The work suggested in the following pages is for the teacher's use only. It is not for the pupil. The children in the primary classes should be from seven to nine years of age. In some religious schools pupils are accepted at a much earlier age. Infant classes are popular with some denominations. If chil dren from four to seven years are admitted they can be taught songs and a few prayers, but experience has shown that to teach Bible stories and to do other reli gions school work, seven years should be the minimum age. The class is a primary one and not in any sense a kindergarten. The pupils are Older than kindergarten age, and kindergarten material is not used. In formulating a plan for educating children, whether it be in a secular or religious school, the first point to be considered is their physical welfare. Book Methods of Teaching

Download or read book Methods of Teaching written by Ella Jacobs and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-13 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Methods of Teaching: Primary Grades; Course B The explanation given for the lessons embodied in Course A of Methods of Teaching Primary Grades, holds good also for lessons contained in Course B. The hope is entertained that this volume will be of further aid in the early religious instruction of the child. Attention is here called to the necessity of weaving the ethical lessons into the Biblical story in such a way, that the former becomes of one piece with the latter. The parent as well as the teacher might use this publication profitably in the education of the child - their common task. The Author's thanks are herewith again expressed to Dr. Henry Berkowitz, Chancellor of the Jewish Chautauqua Society, and to Dr. William Rosenau, Dean of the Correspondence School, for much valuable assistance given in the preparation of this work. Book A Method for Teaching Primary Reading Classic Reprint

Download or read book A Method for Teaching Primary Reading Classic Reprint written by Lida Brown McMurry and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-10-05 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Method for Teaching Primary Reading There are habits of reading that the pupils should form in the Primary Grades. The most important at the outset are: The habit of looking to a word, phrase, or sen tence for its meaning. The habit of attacking a word with the as surance that, through knowledge of the sounds of letters and combinations of letters, the pupils can find out what it says. The one habit deals with the thought and the other with the form, but they must go hand in hand. To establish the child in these habits is the Primary Teacher's problem in Reading. Book Science Teaching Reconsidered

Download or read book Science Teaching Reconsidered written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1997-03-12 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Effective science teaching requires creativity, imagination, and innovation. In light of concerns about American science literacy, scientists and educators have struggled to teach this discipline more effectively. Science Teaching Reconsidered provides undergraduate science educators with a path to understanding students, accommodating their individual differences, and helping them grasp the methodsâ€"and the wonderâ€"of science. What impact does teaching style have? How do I plan a course curriculum? How do I make lectures, classes, and laboratories more effective? How can I tell what students are thinking? Why don't they understand? This handbook provides productive approaches to these and other questions. Written by scientists who are also educators, the handbook offers suggestions for having a greater impact in the classroom and provides resources for further research.
