Book excerpt: La production industrielle nécessite le développement de systèmes d'inspection et de détection de défauts en temps réel. Le travail présenté dans cette thèse concerne des méthodes de contrôle non destructif basées sur les techniques d'acquisition d'images ou de traitement d'images. Dans notre étude sur le traitement d'images nous présentons dans un premier chapitre l'exploitation d'images binaires. Nous montrons que cette étape permet d'obtenir des informations pertinentes, mais insuffisantes pour résoudre notre problème. Après cette étape, nous abordons le même problème mais avec des images sur plusieurs niveaux de gris. Ici l'étude a été orientée vers la segmentation d'images basées sur la détection des contours internes de l'objet, ceux-ci correspondant à des changements brusques de propriétés physiques ou géométriques et formant ainsi des attributs très importants. Dans cette étude nous avons expérimenté une variété d'algorithmes de détection de contours, comme par exemple: l'algorithme de Prewitt, Sobel, Canny, Kirsch, Laplacien; suivie d'une évaluation de performances de ces opérateurs. Les critères de performances sur lesquels nous sommes basés pour aboutir au choix de l'opérateur sont les suivants: temps de calcul résultats obtenus, complexité de la mise en œuvre du circuit correspondant a l'opérateur, mesure de performance proposée par Pratt. Dans le dernier chapitre nous exposons l'architecture de notre microsystème qui sera composée de trois modules: capteur, module de détection de contours, mémoire de compression d'images et de communication avec le calculateur. La conception de ce microsystème ayant abouti sur la réalisation d'un circuit spécialisé ASIC, nous présentant enfin les résultats obtenus sur notre application d'analyse de défauts.
