That the true and only succession is that of faith and love. All else is a tink ling symbol, making a beautiful noise, but all is sound only. Nor is there any true unity but of faith and love. All other unity, in the absence of these, is like self-righteousness, the less we have of it the better. The Protestant Episcopal Church is the witness both in this country and in Europe. The sincerity of the author of Tract No. 4 is questioned, because he suppresses a part of the truth, to promote his own sect. No attempt is made to show that Protestant Episcopalians have not the rights of other sects, or that they are enthusiastic to a fault, for spiritual things; but chiefly for such as are visible and external.
