Book A Comprehensive Study of Meteorology and Climatology

Download or read book A Comprehensive Study of Meteorology and Climatology written by Frank Philemon and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-07-15 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A COMPREHENSIVE STUDY OF METEOROLOGY AND CLIMATOLOGY" The atmosphere is a complex medium, and its mechanism and process are sometimes very complicated. Its nature however is generally expressed in terms of only a few variables, which are measurable. The data thus recorded provides the raw materials for understanding both temporary (weather) and long term (climate) atmospheric conditions. The variables can be through of as the elements of weather and climate. The most important are: temperature content, pressure and wind. These are the basic ingredients of weather and climate. Measuring how they vary in time and space makes it possible to decipher at least partly the complexities of weather dynamics and climatic patterns. Variation in the climatic elements is frequent, if not continuous over Earth. Such variations are caused by, or at least strongly influenced by certain semi permanent attributes of our planet, which are often referred to as controls. The physical conditions and processes are constantly taking place in the atmosphere and they are subjected to periodic changes over time. The atmosphere reacts by producing an infinitive variety of conditions and phenomena known as collectively as weather. It is the sum of temperature, humidity, cloudiness, precipitation, pressure, winds, storms and other atmospheric variables for a short period of time. "A Comprehensive Study of Meteorology and Climatology" is the book which is specially developed through maximization of simplification of basic concepts and aspects of weather and climate for bringing clear understanding to the readers. This makes its content easily accessible to all geographers (meteorologists, climatologists) and students in all levels; secondary schools, high schools, colleges and universities. This book has been written with the strong aim of helping geographers and alike in getting in-depth understanding and improving their knowledge and skills in all issues of Meteorology and Climatology. FRANK PHILEMON (Mwl.) is an educator and teacher (Mwalimu) of geography subject at Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MoEVT) in Tanzania. He is also the author of other three bestselling books - Secret of Success in Entrepreneurship, Human population and Development and Human and Economic Geography. The author is confident that this book will be an invaluable asset for schools, colleges and universities and that students as well as teachers and lecturers will find it useful in making the teaching and learning process easier, pleasant and more fruitful.

Download or read book Meteorology the Elements of Weather and Climate written by Henry Newton Dickson and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-16 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Meteorology the Elements of Weather and Climate In the earlier stages of the study of meteorological science, the student has in most cases the advantage of familiarity with the general nature of the phenomena he has to consider. I have endeavoured in this book to utilise this common knowledge, and to show the methods of eliminating its errors, and of arranging it in scientific order. An attempt is thus made to lay down a certain amount of "permanent way," specially adapted to practical purposes, but at the same time leading towards the more theoretical grounds of modern research. For the benefit of those who wish to pursue any branch of the subject farther, numerous references are given in foot-notes. Since this book was written, the results of recent work in Germany have been presented in elementary form to English readers by Professor Frank Waldo in his "Modern Meteorology," to which the non-mathematical reader, who is interested in the theory of the subject, is referred. Download or read book Physical Climatology written by Benja Rambeloson and published by . This book was released on 2016-09-01 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The gaseous envelop surrounding the earth is called atmosphere while the science dealing with the study of the atmospheric components and characteristics is called meteorology and climatology. Climatology is the scientific study of climate and is a major branch of meteorology. Climatology is the tool that is used to develop long-range forecasts. There are three principal approaches to the study of climatology: physical, descriptive, and dynamic. The physical climatology approach seeks to explain the differences in climate in light of the physical processes influencing climate and the processes producing the various kinds of physical climates, such as marine, desert, and mountain. Physical climatology covenants with explanations of climate rather than with presentation. Physical Climatology deals with the interpretation of factors responsible for the spatial and temporal variations of exchange of air circulations, heat and humidity. It studies various elements of weather namely insolation, temperature, precipitation, fogs, visibility etc. Different elements are formed due to combinations of these weather elements. The occurrences of different combinations of these weather elements are accomplished through different processes and mechanisms. Thus, these processes of exchange of heat, humidity, and momentum between atmosphere and earths surface are also studied thoroughly. It is thus, evident that physical climatology studies the factors and processes of regional variations of climatic conditions."
