Download or read book Glueball Properties from the Bethe Salpeter Equation written by Christian Kellermann and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2012 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For over thirty years bound states of gluons are an outstanding problem of both theoretical and experimental physics. Being predicted by Quantum-Chromodynamics their experimental confirmation is one of the foremost goals of large experimental facilities currently under construction like FAIR in Darmstadt. This thesis presents a novel approach to the theoretical determination of physical properties of bound states of two gluons, called glueballs. It uses the consistent combination of Schwinger-Dyson equations for gluons and ghosts and appropriate Bethe-Salpeter equations describing their corresponding bound-states. A rigorous derivation of both sets of equations, starting from an 2PI effective action is given as well as a general determination of appropriate decompositions of Bethe-Salpeter amplitudes to a given set of quantum numbers of a glueball. As an application example bound state masses of glueballs in a simple truncation scheme are calculated.
Download or read book Quantum Field Theory and Beyond written by Erhard Seiler and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2008 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains a collection of essays written in honor of Wolfhart Zimmermann''s 80th birthday, most of them based on talks presented at a symposium in his honor. The book shows the unifying force of a subject (Quantum Field Theory) and a person (Zimmermann). It ranges from fundamental questions in quantum physics over applications to particle physics and noncommutative geometry to the latest developments in many body theory and dynamical systems. These key ideas are elucidated by worldwide-recognized experts including Faddeev, Becchi, Buchholz, Lowenstein and Salmhofer.Readers seeking examples on how a subject has evolved, diversified and deepened over the course of several decades and how a single person can influence this process can find here a perfect illustration. Altogether, readers are treated to a high-brow intellectual adventure.
Download or read book Quark Confinement and the Hadron Spectrum III written by Nathan Isgur and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The confinement mechanism of the quarks in QCD is one of the most challenging and open problems in physics. Confinement is a nonperturbative phenomenon, and a definite way to handle it has not yet been found in field theory. There are lattice calculations that can produce the low-lying states of the spectrum and ?measure? many important physical quantities, but nevertheless the development of analytical techniques is of extreme importance for understanding the physics involved in confinement. In this respect it is important to test the results obtained directly from the theory (Bethe-Salpeter kernel, effective Hamiltonians, quark potential, etc.) on the spectrum, form factors and decays of bound states of quarks and gluons, and to relate them to the results of lattice theory. In this book, the question of the confinement mechanism is addressed; explanations in terms of monopoles, instantons and dyons are reviewed and the connection with duality is discussed.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first Asia-Pacific Conference on Few-Body Problems in Physics took place from August 23 to August 28, 1999, at the Noda campus of the Sci ence University of Tokyo in Noda-city and Sawayaka Chiba Kenmin Plaza in Kashiwa-city, a suburb of Tokyo close to the Narita-Tokyo International Air port, with the Frontier Research Center for Computation Sciences (FRCCS) of the Science University of Tokyo as the host institute. The High Energy Accel erator Research Organization (KEK), the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN), the Research Center for Nuclear Physics (RCNP)-Osaka University, the Physical Society of Japan, and the Association of Asia Pacific Physical Societies (AAPPS) supported this conference. The conference was initiated in the Asia Pacific area as a counterpart to the successful European Conference on Few-Body Problems in Physics (APFB99), in addition to the International Few-Body Conference Series and the Few Body Gordon Conference series in North America. The Physics of Few-Body Problems covers, as is well known, systems with finite numbers of particles in contrast to many-body systems with very large numbers of particles. Therefore, it covers such wide fields as mesoscopic, atom-molecular, exotic atom, nucleon, hyperon, and quark-gluon physics, plus their applications.

Book excerpt: This book makes a global survey of nonperturbative aspects of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) from the viewpoints of mathematical, elementary-particle and hadron physics, including recent lattice-QCD results. It presents current, important progress in the following areas: the quark confinement mechanism, dynamical chiral-symmetry breaking, topologies in QCD (instantons, monopoles, vortices), SUSY QCD, nonperturbative methods (1/Nc, ladder QCD, AdS/CFT), QCD phase transition at finite temperature and density, quark-gluon plasma, and so on. For recent topics, the book also includes the experimental discovery of the penta-quark particle, the newest information on the QGP creation experiments, and theoretical progress on the baryonic three-quark potential and the high-density QCD.The proceedings have been selected for coverage in: ? This book was released on 1994-05-27 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second workshop on constraint theory aims at reviewing the developments that have taken place in the theory of singular Lagrangians and Dirac-Bergmann Hamiltonian constraints as well as their quantization. Since this theory lies behind all special and general relativistic systems, the topics covered here naturally range from mathematical physics to relativistic system particles, strings and fields and further to general relativity. The variety of topics discussed makes this an important, interesting and informative book.

This book was released on 1999-02-25 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Predeal International Summer School, held at the Institute for Physics and Nuclear Engineering, Bucharest, Romania, is a prestigious scientific event. The school first took place in 1969 and since then it has been held every two years. This year the lectures were given by more than 30 outstanding professors, covering timely subjects in theoretical and experimental nuclear physics. In addition, there were special sessions of contributed papers presenting the most recent results in these domains. The aim of the school was thus two-fold: to give basic information on some hot subjects of research in nuclear physics and to present them with the most recent achievements in these fields. This volume contains the proceedings of the school.
