Book Meson Spectroscopy in the Framework of Constituent Quark Models

Download or read book Meson Spectroscopy in the Framework of Constituent Quark Models written by Antony Prakash Monteiro and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-02 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The complexity of quantum chromodynamics in the non-perturbative domain forces physicist to resort to models in order to describe the phenomena of intermediate energy physics and hence this book develops three different quark models to study light and some heavy mesons: a non relativistic quark model with one-gluon-exchange potential(OGEP) and Instanton-Induced Interaction (III); a semi-relativistic quark model with OGEP and III where the confinement of the quark is modeled with the relativistic harmonic model; a relativistic model where the features of the two previous models are supplemented with the introduction of gluon confinement and thus confined one-gluon-exchange potential (COGEP). Both tensor and spin-orbit parts of the interactions are taken into account in all the three models. It begins with an introduction to the quark model of hadrons covering the SU(3) symmetry in chapter 1 and it discusses in detail the constituent quark models in chapter 2. The three models and a description on decays are developed in chapters 3 and 4. The results and conclusions are presented in chapters 5 and 6. This book predicts mass spectra and certain decays of light and some heavy mesons.

Book Meson Spectroscopy with Instantons in Constituent Quark Models

This book was released on 2011-06 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) is the theory of strong interactions. Since the exact form of confinement of quarks from QCD is not known constituent quark modes were developed incorporating the basic features of the QCD. Mesons are the very fundamental particles in hadron physics. Hence, a deep understanding of the internal structure of the mesons is of crucial importance for explaining properties concerning more complex systems. In this work, non-relativistic and relativistic constituent quark models have been developed including instantons as a short range nonperturbative gluonic effect. The total energy or the mass of the meson is obtained by calculating the energy eigen values of the Hamiltonian in the harmonic-oscillator basis.

This book was released on 2004-01-01 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book discusses constituent quarks, diquarks, the massive effective gluons and the problem of scalar isoscalar mesons. The quark-gluonium classification of meson states is also given. Experimentally observed properties of hadrons are presented together with the corresponding theoretical interpretation in the framework of the composite hadron structure. The text includes a large theoretical part, which shows how to treat composite systems (including relativistic ones) with a technique based on spectral integration. This technique provides the possibility of handling hadrons as weakly bound systems of quarks and, at the same time, takes into account confinement. Attention is focused on the composite structure revealing itself in high energy hadron collisions. Fields of applicability of the additive quark model are discussed, as is colour screening in hadronic collisions at high and superhigh energies. Along with a detailed presentation of hadron-hadron collisions, a description of hadron-nucleus collisions is given.

Book Mesons And Baryons Systematization And Methods Of Analysis

Download or read book Mesons And Baryons Systematization And Methods Of Analysis written by A V Anisovich and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2008-09-04 with total page 603 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the investigation of the strongly interacting hadrons — to a quark model operating with effective color particles, constituent quarks, massive effective gluons and diquarks. The study of strong interactions based on effective constituent particles requires a solid ground of experimental data, which we now have at our disposal with the serious progress made in the investigation of hadrons, especially meson states. The present understanding of QCD applied to strong interactions can be distorted by prejudices. Therefore, the way followed by the quark model is to rely on the experiment and to restore the effective Hamiltonian on the basis of QCD on the one hand, and, on the other, of the spectral integral method.Baryon-baryon and antibaryon-baryon interactions are studied with the purpose of unambiguous applications of the written formulae to the interpretation of experimental data — to the observation of new meson and baryon resonances. The technique used is the spin-orbital momentum expansion of the amplitude. This method is our basic approach to the proper treatment of experimental data. The photon-induced reactions are also considered and the problem of form factors is discussed.

Book Theoretical Aspects of Light Meson Spectroscopy

Download or read book Theoretical Aspects of Light Meson Spectroscopy written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this pedagogical review the authors discuss the theoretical understanding of light hadron spectroscopy in terms of QCD and the quark model. They begin with a summary of the known and surmised properties of QCD and confinement. Following this they review the nonrelativistic quark potential model for q{anti q} mesons and discuss the quarkonium spectrum and methods for identifying q{anti q} states. Finally, they review theoretical expectations for non-q{anti q} states (glueballs, hybrids and multiquark systems) and the status of experimental candidates for these states.

Book The Hybrid Mesons Quest

Download or read book The Hybrid Mesons Quest written by and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The meson spectroscopy plays nowadays a central role in the investigation of hadron structure thanks to the possible existence of exotic hybrid mesons, quark-antiquark-gluon bound states. Their explicit gluonic degrees of freedom which should clearly emerge from a Partial Wave Analysis (PWA) of the corresponding Dalitz plot of the exotic particle decay, may result in final JPC configurations not allowed in the constituent quark model. Besides this clear signature, hybrid mesons are also expected to have a large particle multiplicity decays, requiring for their search an experimental apparatus with high performances in terms of rate capability, resolution and almost a full acceptance to apply PWA methods. New-generation experiments are planned at Thomas Jefferson National Laboratory (VA, USA) for which an unprecedented statistics of large multiplicity decay events with fully reconstructed kinematics will be available. In particular for the MesonEx (CLAS12) experiment in Hall B, a wide scientific program that will start in 2016 has been deployed to study the meson spectrum at energies up to 11 GeV. A key role in such program is played by the Forward Tagger apparatus of the experiment, which will allow to extend the study of meson electro-production to very low Q2 values, in a quasi-real photo production kinematical region, where the production of hybrid mesons is expected to be favorite. Currently a new analysis framework for the search of the hybrid mesons is being set up by the HASPECT network, an international structure which gather people involved into theoretical and experimental hadronic physics all over the world. The goals of the network is to develop new analysis models and statistical techniques to unfold the signal and background distributions in high-statistics datasets. In this work are briefly presented the first preliminary results from the application of a statistical technique, namely the sPlot, to the data already acquired by the CLAS experiment for the decay f 1 (1285) --> (eta)pi+pi-

Book Bilocal Field Theory and a Model for Meson Spectroscopy Part I Trident Production by High Energy Charged Particles on Nuclei Part II Harmonic Oscillator Quark Model Radiative Corrections Cross Sections Covariant Perturbation Theory Interference

This book was released on 1979 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bilocal field theory for quark confinement is considered in a combination of bilocal field theory with the covariant harmonic oscillator quark model. The formalism can be viewed as a direct generalization of local Lagrangian field theory. Following the usual local theory, the variational principle is used to find the Euler - Lagrange equation for the bilocal field. For a special class of Lagrangian densities satisfying a boundary condition on the hypersurface of the internal domain which is called the cell, the Euler - Lagrange equation appears to be a simple generalization of the local equation. For such Lagrangian densities there exist proper conservation laws of energy and angular momentum. The Lagrangian density with an internal covariant harmonic oscillator interaction is then introduced to describe the static properties of the mesons. Calculations of trident production by high energy charged particles on nuclei were done in the framework of covariant perturbation theory. The dominant contribution to the cross section comes from the lowest order diagrams and the higher order radiative corrections yield a very small part. The lowest order calculations are described in detail for pair production by charged bosons, in particular by .pi.−, following a previous approach. Cross section formulae for the fermion primary, which is taken to be the proton for concreteness, are also presented. For the high energy lepton pairs, the second-order process dominates over the first-order process. The interference term between the first and second-order process is shown to vanish. An attempt is made to calculate the radiative corrections to the second-order process. 109 references. (JFP).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work originated in a series of lectures on meson and baryon ex cited states which I gave at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center in the fall of 1962. The notes of these lectures were issued as a Stanford Uni versity report (SLAC-13) in March, 1963. In the fall of 1963, I gave a revised set of lectures on meson and baryon spectroscopy at Indiana University. In both cases, the talks were given primarily for experi mental physicists. In preparing the notes of these talks for pUblication, I have added some introductory material on pions, nucleons, kaons, and hyperons. My main emphasis is on the experimental facts concerning the spectros copy of the mesons and baryons and on the use of conservation laws in their interpretation. I have either mentioned briefly or omitted entirely explanations which depend on dynamical models. Although I have given a number of facts about the electromagnetic and weak decays of some mesons and baryons, I have not discussed the theory of these decays. This is not a comprehensive review of the subject of the strongly interacting particles, and the list of references is not complete. Also, I have not always devoted time to a subject in proportion to its impor tance, but have spent more time on topics which have particularly interested me. Nevertheless, I hope that I have provided a useful summary of the most important facts about the spectroscopy of the mesons and baryons.
