Book Mesons And Baryons Systematization And Methods Of Analysis

Download or read book Mesons And Baryons Systematization And Methods Of Analysis written by A V Anisovich and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2008-09-04 with total page 603 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the investigation of the strongly interacting hadrons — to a quark model operating with effective color particles, constituent quarks, massive effective gluons and diquarks. The study of strong interactions based on effective constituent particles requires a solid ground of experimental data, which we now have at our disposal with the serious progress made in the investigation of hadrons, especially meson states. The present understanding of QCD applied to strong interactions can be distorted by prejudices. Therefore, the way followed by the quark model is to rely on the experiment and to restore the effective Hamiltonian on the basis of QCD on the one hand, and, on the other, of the spectral integral method.Baryon-baryon and antibaryon-baryon interactions are studied with the purpose of unambiguous applications of the written formulae to the interpretation of experimental data — to the observation of new meson and baryon resonances. The technique used is the spin-orbital momentum expansion of the amplitude. This method is our basic approach to the proper treatment of experimental data. The photon-induced reactions are also considered and the problem of form factors is discussed.

Book Quark Model and High Energy Collisions

Download or read book Quark Model and High Energy Collisions written by Vladimir Vladislavovich Anisovich and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2004 with total page 547 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an updated version of the book published in 1985. QCD-motivated, it gives a detailed description of hadron structure and soft interactions in the additive quark model, where hadrons are regarded as composite systems of dressed quarks. In the past decade it has become clear that nonperturbative QCD, responsible for soft hadronic processes, may differ rather drastically from perturbative QCD. The understanding of nonperturbative QCD requires a detailed investigation of the experiments and the theoretical approaches. Bearing this in mind, the book has been rewritten paying special attention to the interplay of soft hadronic collisions and the quark model. It is at the crossroads of these domains that peculiar features of strong QCD reveal themselves. The book discusses constituent quarks, diquarks, the massive effective gluons and the problem of scalar isoscalar mesons. The quark-gluonium classification of meson states is also given. Experimentally observed properties of hadrons are presented together with the corresponding theoretical interpretation in the framework of the composite hadron structure. The text includes a large theoretical part, which shows how to treat composite systems (including relativistic ones) with a technique based on spectral integration. This technique provides the possibility of handling hadrons as weakly bound systems of quarks and, at the same time, takes into account confinement.Attention is focused on the composite structure revealing itself in high energy hadron collisions. Fields of applicability of the additive quark model are discussed, as is colour screening in hadronic collisions at high and superhigh energies. Along with a detailed presentation of hadron-hadron collisions, a description of hadron-nucleus collisions is given.

Book Precision Tests Of The Standard Electroweak Model

Download or read book Precision Tests Of The Standard Electroweak Model written by Paul G Langacker and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-02-23 with total page 1032 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High precision measurements of weak neutral current and charged current processes and of the properties of the Z and W bosons have established the standard electroweak model as correct down to a distance scale of 10-16 cm, and are a sensitive probe of possible underlying physics. In this book, all aspects of the program are considered in detail, including the structure of the standard model, radiative corrections, high precision experiments, and their implications. The major classes of experiments are surveyed, covering the experiments themselves, the data analysis, results, and prospects. This volume is a detailed reference for theoretical and experimental researchers, as well as an introductory text for advanced students.

Book Semileptonic Meson Decays in the Quark Model

Download or read book Semileptonic Meson Decays in the Quark Model written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present the predictions of ISGW2, an update of the ISGW quark model for semileptonic meson decays. The updated model incorporates a number of features which should make it more reliable, including the constraints imposed by Heavy Quark Symmetry, hyperfine distortions of wave-functions, and form factors with more realistic high recoil behaviors.

Book The Spectrum and Decays of Scalar Mesons in the Light Front Quark Model

Download or read book The Spectrum and Decays of Scalar Mesons in the Light Front Quark Model written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We use the light-front quark model to investigate the structure of the scalar mesons, mainly focusing on the three heavy isoscalar states f0(1370), f0(1500), and f0(1710). We comput the spectrum of scalar mesons by diagonalizing a relativized, QCD-inspired model Hamiltonian written in a basis of 25 simple harmonic oscillator states. The masses are then used to perform a mixing analysis which assumes that the heavy isoscalars are mixtures of quarkonia and the scalar glueball. The resulting quark-glue content is used along with the meson wave functions determined from the spectrum to compute the decay rates to pairs of pseudoscalar mesons (two pions, two kaons, two eta mesons). We find that when the glueball contributions to the decays are ignored, the results are in poor agreement with the available data. However, when we estimate the effect of including the glueball contributions in the decays, a solution can be found that matches the data quite well. In this solution, the f0(1710) is mostly glueball (78%) while the f0(1500) and f0(1370) are mostly mixtures of quarkonia. Additionally, in this solution the glueball contributions to kaon and eta final states are significant, while the contributions to the pion final state is negligible. This finding is in agreement with Chanowitz who uses chiral perturbation theory to show that the amplitude for a scalar glueball to decay to a quark-antiquark pair is proportional to the quark mass. This results in a suppression of the pion decay channel compared to the kaon and eta decay channels.
