Book excerpt: Description ‘Allāmah al-Būṣīrī’s timeless ode in praise of the Prophet ﷺ remains the most famed, imitated, and oft-recited Arabic poem. Indeed it has since its inception transcended all borders and regions to adorn the hearts, tongues, and architecture of Muslims across all lands, cultures, and languages. It is the ultimate expression of devotion and love for the Prophet ﷺ. The great scholars of Islam have long recognised the poem’s capacity to aid in increasing the love for the Prophet ﷺ and attachment with him. As such, countless commentaries and annotations have been written upon it and the mashāikh have long encouraged its teaching, recital, and explanation. Inspired by this, Shaykh Abdul Raheem Limbādā [Hafizahullāh] presents a beautiful and concise elaboration of the deeper meanings of the poem, explaining its linguistic features, imagery, and context. It is hoped this work will help rekindle love and longing for Rasūlullah ﷺ amongst the Ummah. A U T H O R Shaykh Abdul Raheem Limbādā (May Allah preserve him) is a graduate of Darul Uloom Bury. After graduating, he pursued further study at Mazahir ul Uloom, Saharanpur (India). He also studied the science of Ifta (Islamic Jurisprudence). Book excerpt: Commercial banks and other financial institutions are an integral part of present economies. Individuals as well as public and private institutions can hardly operate without the institution of banking. Modern banking operations are primarily interest-centric. Banks receive money and lend it on interest. This is prohibited in Islam. Since interest permeates all the operations of the banking system, the whole banking system is repugnant to Muslims. Islamic banking -- as an alternative to the Western capitalist banking system -- prohibits any kind of speculation, interest, and immoral investments (eg: casinos). Islamic banks have to make a profit. They do this by buying assets on behalf of the customer, who has to repay the loan and a fee for using the asset. When the loan is paid off, the assets ownership is transferred to the borrower. The advantage of this arrangement is that the bank shares not only the profit but the risk as well. For this reason, it gets the opportunity to have a close look at the potential borrowers

Book Women Empowerment Through Self help Groups SHGs

Download or read book Women Empowerment Through Self help Groups SHGs written by A. Abdul Raheem and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In India, the advancement and empowerment of women has been a leading objective of state policy ever since the attainment of independence in 1947. Institutions of different types - central, state, and local governments; non-governmental organizations; civil society; and other bodies - are active to ensure gender equality as laid down in the Constitution of India. India's Eleventh Five Year Plan (2007-2012) recognizes women for the first time not just as equal citizens, but as agents of economic and social growth. The Plan's approach to gender equity is based on the recognition that interventions in favor of women must be multi-pronged and that they must be provided with basic entitlements. Self-help Groups (SHGs) have emerged as an effective instrument to promote entrepreneurship and self-confidence among women, particularly in rural areas. This book provides a vivid account of the various measures taken by the government of India for the economic, social, and political empowerment of women. More importantly, it examines the role of SHGs in women's development, thereby envisaging a synthesis of the formal financial system and informal sector.

I have gotten my share of this Dunya and now I am striving for the next life. I have lived and watched African American be wasteful and make everyone else wealthy in his or her own community. When will we wake up as a people? One thing I am of certain that once you leave this life there's no coming back to correct or strive for the benefit of this life. I hope this book will help my people better understand the meaning of striving for this Dunya and striving for the hereafter.

Download or read book Poetics of the Flesh written by Mayra Rivera and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2015-09-16 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Poetics of the Flesh Mayra Rivera offers poetic reflections on how we understand our carnal relationship to the world, at once spiritual, organic, and social. She connects conversations about corporeality in theology, political theory, and continental philosophy to show the relationship between the ways ancient Christian thinkers and modern Western philosophers conceive of the "body" and "flesh.” Her readings of the biblical writings of John and Paul as well as the work of Tertullian illustrate how Christian ideas of flesh influenced the works of Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Michel Foucault, and inform her readings of Judith Butler, Frantz Fanon, and others. Rivera also furthers developments in new materialism by exploring the intersections among bodies, material elements, social arrangements, and discourses through body and flesh. By painting a complex picture of bodies, and by developing an account of how the social materializes in flesh, Rivera provides a new way to understand gender and race.

Book From Shamanism to Sufism

Download or read book From Shamanism to Sufism written by Razia Sultanova and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2011-01-30 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Women have traditionally played a vital part in Islam throughout Central Asia - the vast area from the Caspian Sea to Siberia. With this ground-breaking and original study, Razia Sultanova examines the experiences of Muslim women in the region and the ways in which religion has shaped their daily lives and continues to do so today. 'From Shamanism to Sufism' explores the fundamental interplay between religious belief and the cultural heritage of music and dance and is the first book to focus particularly on the role of women. Based on evidence derived from over fifteen years of field work, 'From Shamanism to Sufism' shows how women kept alive traditional Islamic religious culture in Central Asia, especially through Shamanism and Sufism, even under Soviet rule when all religion was banned. Nowhere was the role of women more important than in the Ferghana Valley in Uzbekistan, the cradle of female Islamic culture and a centre for women's poetry and music. This area is home to the 'Otin-Oy', a sisterhood of religiously educated women and members of Sufi orders, who take a leading part in rituals, marking the pivotal moments in the Islamic calendar and maintaining religious practices through music and ritual dances. Sultanova shows how the practice of Islam in Uzbekistan has evolved over time: long underground, there was a religious resurgence at independence in 1991, boosting national Uzbek identity and nationalism - 500 new mosques were built - only to be followed by a return to persecution by a repressive state under the banner of the 'war against terror'. Now events have come full circle, and once again covert worship by women remains crucial to the survival of traditional Muslim culture. Ritual and music are at the heart of Central Asian and Islamic culture, not only at weddings and funerals but in all aspects of everyday life. Through her in-depth analysis of these facets of cultural life within Central Asian society, 'From Shamanism to Sufism' offers important insights into the lives of the societies in the region. The role of women has often been neglected in studies of religious culture and this book fills an enormous gap, restoring women to their rightful historical and cultural context. It will be essential reading for anyone with a serious interest in the History or Religion of Central Asia or in Global Islam..
