Book How to Learn Memorize Medical Terminology

Download or read book How to Learn Memorize Medical Terminology written by Anthony Metivier and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-04-05 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you'd like to improve your ability to learn and memorize medical terminology by as much as 100%, 200%, even 300% (or more) ... using simple memory techniques that you can learn in 15-20 minutes (or less), then this may be the most important book that you will ever read. Believe it or not, it really doesn't matter if you think you have a good memory or not. The information in this book will teach you: * Why memory is like a bicycle everyone can ride (with some minor personal adjustments). * The real reason why you should never be squeamish about using memorization techniques so that you can recall medical terminology with ease. * Why and how some of the most famous memory skills are applicable to learning any subject, especially medicine. * How you can easily create a 26 "letter location" memory system based around the alphabet to establish "medical fluency." * Unique techniques that will have you literally "tuning in" on medicine and its terminology. * How to separate and organize medical terminology in the most effective manner for memorization. * Two secret ways you can use relaxation to aid the memorization process. These two methods alone are worth the price of this book because they will literally eliminate the stress and apprehension as you study, learn and memorize medical terminology. * And much, much more ... These techniques have been used by real medical students to make real strides in their professional careers as medical experts, most of whom previously considered themselves owners of a "bad memory." Don't worry! None of these techniques are rocket science. Frankly, if you can memorize a short email address or the name of a movie, then you can use this system to memorize medical terminology. But there's really no time to lose. Every day that you are not using this simple memorization system, you are literally stealing from yourself the joy of being able to recall an abundance of medical terminology as you easily expand the natural abilities of your mind.

Book excerpt: Mnemonics have been around for years. They have been shown to be an extremely useful aid in learning the details of medicine, especially when there are "lists of key causes" to remember. These lists are often on written and clinical exams and medical board tests, so it is incumbent on the student to know them well. After a while, the use of mnemonics will become easy. The sheer volume of facts to learn and memorize in the study of Medicine can be daunting. I have been teaching clinical adult medicine to students for over 30 years (Medical, Physician Assistant, and Nursing) and it is not unusual for us to deal with 25 different diagnoses while on daily hospital rounds. I teach the students the importance of having a "differential diagnosis" of a medical problem at their fingertips. When students repeat lists of medical problems and their causes over and over, this is an example of memorizing by rote. This book helps solve the problem of mountains of information and rote memorizing. One of the ways of remembering the large volume of medical facts is through knowing mnemonics. In this book, I have developed over 200 "easy to recall" mnemonics and other pearls that will aid the student grasp important lists of differential diagnoses concerning common medical problems. I have chosen the most common internal medicine problems in 12 main categories.
