Simpson), a clergyman whose living in a distant county was in an unhealthy situation. I heard a good sermon from him last Sunday. He is the most cheerful Christian you ever saw. He spends every Thursday evening at my friends' at Clifton. As soon as eight o'clock arrives, he calls for the Bible, summons the whole household together, and lectures and prays with the most beautiful simplicity. He says his rule is never or rarely to accept an invitation to dinner, but never or rarely to refuse one to tea, as dinners are too much of a worldly character, and he can always take his Bible to tea. How I wish you were near enough to this to be visited! Well, we shall soon be so situated that there will be no impediment to free intercourse. Contiguity is one of the delightful recommendations of the "many mansions" in our Father's house. Oh, my dear friend, how brief, yet eventful is human life!
