During this period, therefore, he participated in our domestic blessings, accompanied us in our occasional visits to the sweet scenery of the proximate sea-coast, and was associated with us in all our religious exercises and privileges. So that in Exeter, as in Liverpool, each of these conditions or localities became the sources, to the mind and feeling of the writer, of interesting associations concerning the beloved boy. And among these, he is impressively reminded of many things, pleasing and pious, by the opening of, and subsequent religious services and exercises conducted in, Bedford Chapel, --the place of the author's regular ministrations. Bedford Chapel, which was not completed when we arrived in Exeter, was consecrated on the 4th of August, 1832, and the day following, being Sunday, we all, as a family, had the privilege of uniting in the first regular service in this newly appointed Sanctuary. At that service--which to many of our friends, as well as ourselves, was one of deep and devotional interest--the following hymn, composed for the occasion, was sung: --Imitated from 1 Kings, ch. viii.: --Tune, "Luther's Hymn." Great God! who dwell'st in realms on high, "On clouds of glory seated," Object of Worship, ever nigh, The source of things created!
