Book Memoirs of a Schizophrenic Goddess

Download or read book Memoirs of a Schizophrenic Goddess written by Nadine Murray and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2003-11 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Admitting I'm nuts would mean that the journey has not been real. Memoirs of a Schizophrenic Goddess begins with the murder of John Lennon. The superstar's spirit leads me to a book on science, ritual and religion called Tantrism. In the book I find pictures of a woman spinning in a circle. Finally there is a reason for the dance that I've been hiding in all of my life. According to the book I am a goddess, but the book is too difficult to understand, the science is too complex. To understand the journey I must read every book in the library. That's millions of books. Adding to my misery are the voices and the visions. Jesus and The Virgin are flesh and blood in my world, and devil-fighting rituals are a way of life. Exhausting my resources I search for help. No one wants to listen. I am encouraged to be quiet, not to let my "craziness" surface. That doesn't work for me because the journey is real.

Book Autobiography of a Schizophrenic Girl

Download or read book Autobiography of a Schizophrenic Girl written by Marguerite Sechehaye and published by Penguin. This book was released on 1994-11-01 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the astonishing memoir of a young woman called only “Renee,” whose descent into schizophrenia began at the age of five. Written with a diamond-sharp precision that lends it an eerie power, it tells the story of Renee’s long sojourn in what she calls “The Land of Enlightenment" or “The Country of Tibet” and of her gradual and painstaking return to “wonderful reality.” Renee moves in and out of hospitals, sometimes able to eat only tea and spinach, or apples and spinach, because “‘The System forbade anything else.” She regresses to a state resembling infancy, and she experiences intense despair, although she always describes her experiences with a pitiless and remarkable calm, as though she has observed herself from a great distance. And all the while she is sustained by the attention and understanding of her analyst, Marguerite Sechehaye, who has contributed an illuminating Afterword to her story. This harrowing and unforgettable work is a classic in the literature of mental illness. With a foreword by Frank Conroy.

Book Under Cover of Demons

Download or read book Under Cover of Demons written by Geula Salomonova and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2019-01-14 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the life story of Geula Salomonova. It is based on real-life events. Geula is ill with the mental disorder called paranoid schizophrenia. The story is told from her point of view. This means that many events like hallucinations may sound like fiction, but they are real. Nothing is fictional. There are a lot of medical books and other materials on schizophrenia, but not much has been said from firsthand experience. Those who are sick will never tell you their tale. This is because they are not coherent and not in touch with their surroundings most of the time. Thus, their point of view and experience are kept secret. Geula, who passed through the usual psychotic experiences, had the good fortune of overcoming them and being able to tell her story. However, although the act of writing of this book was not easy, Geula decided to make the effort to finish it and share it with you. The book can be seen as the memoirs of a woman who has been haunted by Satan and demons. The whole story takes place through various countries and from the age of fifteen to thirty-six. The names of the characters have been changed to protect their identity and privacy. From this point on, I will narrate as Geula. Seven years have passed since the events of this story took place. The inspiration for writing this book was from reading Anita Moorjani’s Dying to Be Me. It narrates her life story and tells about a woman dying from cancer but eventually coming back to life. Thus, I decided to tell you about what had happened in my life.

Book Mind Without a Home

Download or read book Mind Without a Home written by Kristina Morgan and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2013-08-13 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings readers straight inside the tortuous nature of the disease of schizophrenia, chronicled in short, journal-like chapters that narrate the author’s incredible story. Experience the inner world of a woman with schizophrenia in this brutally honest, lyrical memoir.Have you ever wondered what it is like in the mind of a person with schizophrenia? How can one survive day after day unable to distinguish between one's inner nightmares and the everyday realities that most of us take for granted? In her brutally honest, highly original memoir, Kristina Morgan takes us inside her head to experience the chaos, fragmented thinking, and the startling creativity of the schizophrenic mind. With the intimacy of private journal-like entries and the language of a poet, she carries us from her childhood to her teen years when hallucinations began to hijack her mind and into adulthood where she began abusing alcohol to temper the punishing voices that only she could hear. This is no formulaic tale of tragedy and triumph: We feel Kristina's hope as she pursues an education and career and begins to build strong family connections, friendships and intimacy-and her devastation as the insistent voices convince her to throw it all away, destroying herself and alienating everyone around her. Woven through the pages of her life are stories of recovery from alcoholism and the search for her sexual identity in relationships with both women and men. Eventually, her journey takes her to a place of relative peace and stability where she finds the inner resources and support system to manage her chronic illnesses and live a fulfilling life.

When she gets the chance to go to an out-of-state school, she takes it, but her family won’t leave her be. Letter after letter arrives, constantly reminding her of the insanity rooted in her family tree. Even worse, the voices in her own head whisper words she’s not sure are normal. “Please don’t make me be like Mamma,” she prays to a God she’s not sure is listening. The unexpected death of her father soon after she returns home leaves Paolina in shock—and in charge of her paranoid schizophrenic mother. But it isn’t until she is twenty-seven and her sister two years her junior explodes in a psychotic episode and, just like Mamma, is diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and must be committed, that Paolina descends into her own despair, nearly losing herself to the darkness. Poignant and impactful, Committed is one woman’s story of resilience as she struggles to stay sane despite the madness that surrounds her.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Split Mind is an encouraging and eye-opening memoir about what it is like to live with a family member who has a mental illness. Sheri grew up in the suburbs of Edison, New Jersey, with her mother, father, an older brother. She seemed to have the perfect family and a bright future ahead of her. But then her mother developed symptoms of schizophrenia, and Sheri's world was turned upside down. Her brother became involved in drugs, her father left them, and Sheri's grades were slipping as she struggled to help her mother by herself. As Sheri grew up, her mother's condition grew worse. Among other things, Sheri's mother wore tin foil constantly to keep people from reading her mind, and she even believed her own daughter was possessed by a malicious entity named D.J. Sheri strove in vain to help her mother even as she tried to find acceptance from others in her life. While her mother bounced from family living room to mental institutions and back again, Sheri struggled with her own issues of anxiety, post traumatic stress, and lack of self-esteem. But even through all this, God was with Sheri and helped her through every situation. Sheri finds strength every day to continue and make life better for herself and those around her. A Split Mind is an encouraging and eye-opening memoir about what it is like to live with a family member who has a mental illness.
