Se selecciono un reactor adecuado para el proceso, obteniendo un reactor mezcla completa. Mediante balances de materia se obtuvo un sistema de ecuaciones para la transesterificacion de aceite de palma en un CSTR, las cuales se resolvieron a diferentes tiempos de residencia usando el programa computacional Matlab 7.0. La cinetica de la reaccion se baso en experimentos realizados por Leevijit et al. (2004). De acuerdo al Standard de la Union Europea para combustibles diesel alternativos, la pureza minima aceptable de biodiesel es de 96.5% en peso. Para evaluar diferentes opciones, el reactor continuo se modelo como n CSTRs ideales en serie. Los resultados obtenidos revelan que un n=6 es ideal para la produccion de biodiesel con un tiempo de residencia global de 6 min, con el cual se logra una pureza de 99,31%. Ademas, se logro validar el modelo matematico obtenido comparandolo con los datos experimentales presentados por Leevijit et al., concluyendo de esta manera que el modelo cumple con los objetivos para lo que fue disenado."
